Deaf Cat Buddy needs a new foster home-Montreal
Buddy needs a new foster home before Christmas because of a medical condition, his current foster is moving and cannot take him with her.
Buddy’s Mother and her 6 kittens were trapped in a public park almost 4 years ago. His Mother had lived in a home and was very friendly and well socialized. The kittens were 4 months old and had been very minimally socialized by the person who had been feeding the little family. They were very leery of people and could not be touched or handled in any way. In time we discovered that Buddy had the additional handicap of being deaf. Buddy is a very gentle, friendly, easygoing cat. He mews and purrs, loves playing with a laser light, he will take treats from his foster’s hand and comes to her when she feeds him. With time he seems to have developed some residual hearing. His preferred way of dealing with his hearing problem is to find another cat that will act as his ears and he stays close to that cat. If he is cornered and cannot escape he will let you touch him gently and does not lash out. Buddy’s biggest problem is his fear of strangers, especially men. Buddy needs a foster home that has someone with the patience required to help him deal with this fear. The San Francisco SPCA has suggested that the best approach to socializing Buddy is to isolate him completely to make him dependent on you for everything. The easiest way to do this would be to put him in either a bare room where he has no place to hide or put him in a large crate. Then you have to start the process of making him dependent on you for everything. When he has learned to trust you and you can handle him then you can start introducing him to other people. Born September 2005 (approximately) This pet has had his vaccination and booster and has been sterilized. This pet is already house traine If anyone or anyone you know can foster Buddy Please let me know ASAP.
