Napoleon Complex help
Hi I have a 3 year old Chinese Crested who believes that "I have to beat you up before you beat up me." When he was a puppy he was fine with other dogs. He plays with the neighbourhood dogs fine as long as he already new them, and he is great with kids even little ones. It wasn't until about a year ago that I noticed that he gets really agressive to bigger dogs (little ones like himself he will tollorate but still snarles at them) I need to break him of this. Any help and tips would be awesome! I love to take him everywhere I go and don't want to have to stop if there are other dogs around that might in his mind "eat him!"

Sounds like your dog has fear agression to me. I would consider taking a dog obedience class that has some large dogs in it and/or consider consulting a dog behaviourist.
Good luck .

He probably wasn't socialized enough as a pup with all kinds of dogs or maybe had one bad experience with a big dog. I would recommend finding a behaviour specialist to desentize him to bigger dogs. WARNING: Full immersion only works 50% of the time and could make them better or worse.
Good luck! |
