My dog tooth broken
I just found my dog's upper big tooth was broken. It's not chipped, it splitted and the piece is still attached with his gum.
It seems like this was happened not a couple days ago, because it looks like a cavity. I know I have to go to Vet, but I am just wondering if anybody know good vet for dog teeth around Alberta. I am living in north, so AB is closest province from my place. We have only one vet in the town. I do not think that they can do not much for dental. Thanks ! |

The vet clinic I go to doesn't have any dental specialists. As far as I know if the vet is qualified to do general surgery, they should be able to do a tooth extraction, so your vet shouldn't have any problems. (or should be able to refer someone to you if they're not qualified.) The main thing to watch for is infection which can result in a abscess inside the mouth that could protrude into the nose or cheek area.
Good luck! |

We had a similar problem with one of Cass's molars. Our regular vets had no problem with the extraction. And as Magoomba says, they can always refer you to someone if there's something they can't handle. So a good place to start is with your regular vet.

a tooth extraction
I understand all situation is different, but many people choose a tooth extraction ?
My dog is still 5 years old. I thought that a tooth extraction could be the last choice if there is other choices. "a tooth extraction" does not affect much for a dog's living, specially eating ?!? |

Cass lost a molar at 1 year. She sheared it off on something hard She never had any trouble chewing and it didn't even really seem to bother her much when it happened. That's the only tooth she's broken and she's 8 now.

My dog is eleven and has four teeth missing, and it doesn't prevent her from chewing dry food, toys or treats.
