What's missing from our board/site?

Dear members,

In an effort to always improve, we'd like member feedback on if there is anything we are missing.

Is there a new forum section we need?

Is there any other section that we need to add to THE OTHER parts of Pets.ca that are NOT bulletin board related?

Members on this board have great insight so your feedback is very much appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

Marko

how about an instant messaging forum or online meetings with pet experts about different subjects.

Chatrooms are always tricky with the board bacause there are often conflicts....but we are always looking for a good one to implement.

online meetings with pet experts - a good idea!

Please keep the feedback flowing...

thx

I don't know forum things, but is there any way that we could post movies? Like small home movies? Or are they just too huge?

Otherwise, I'm good.

I have been going into a chat room on another site - non - pet related - so far everyone is civil to one another and there is a group that goes in regularlily - everything under the sun pretty much gets talked about from pets - kids, weather work etc.

Maybe there could be a link we could click on (like "new posts" and "today's posts") that shows us all of the currently active threads that we have posted in.

I like those moving emoticoms, like the one hitting the other in the head with a hammer. And we need one to indicate "see your vet"!

Lightbulb Chat room!

I was siiting well laying in bed last night after I logged off here and thought to myself .. I should write and ask why there is no chat room on pets.ca ... i think it would be soooo neat! I was part of a pregnancy chat room when i was pregnant( go figure thats when it was) and there were always 2 or three regulars as we called them monitoring the room and reporting abusers and kicking ppl out and stuff. It was a great time .. we made lots of friends and actually I'm going to one of the girls weddings that I met there. I think it's an excellent idea since most ppl in this membership area are always on and constantly updating and refreshing to see responses to their posts and stuff. I don't think it would be too hard since your requirements for membership to the bulletin area are so extensive .... it wouldn't be too hard to track abusive ppl and animal lovers are very protective of their rights .. I think it would be self geverned pretty well! Something to consider .... maybe a poll would help see the demand for one? Well I'm assuming you already know there is one ... maybe I'll just stop typing ... lol

I just recently found this site but to me it seems great as it is although I do think a behavior section specifically for cats is a great idea.

More smilies are a definite MUST!!! I am administrator on a message board (not pet related though many of us are pet lovers so we have a section for it). Here are some of the smilies we have:

Plus a ton more. Just makes things more fun. We probably have about 70 now and I rotate in seasonal ones based on the holidays and such.

Is this section redundant??

This section of the site appears to have become redundant and its such a shame! There were some very good suggestions here.
I particularly like the idea of a Chat Room - instant interaction is what people are used to now! I would love to join chat rooms on a host of issues - can the idea be revisited????

In order to keep the size of the reply page at a reasonable size, we do limit smilies - right now to 40.

That said....a few new smilies ARE coming....maybe as early as next week.

a handy list of things to take/write down to your vet if your pet is sick. stool sample, type of food... any diet changes.... have a chance for someoen to sit down and see the list of questions a vet will normally ask you about if your pet is sick BEFORE you have to go to the vet??

i havent had my coffee yet.

I think that's a great idea ash! If any members want to start it off, we could easily make it a sticky.

Thanks!

Horror Stories

I would like to suggest a horror story site..... the day I picked up my Bichon from rescue was a nightmare..... I brought him home, showed him the house, took him for a walk, he got spooked by someone walking past us, jumped, snapped his collar and ran into a crowded street.... I spent 30 minutes trying to get him to safety... believe it or not the only thing that saved him, was that I found an empty water bottle laying on the sidewalk and used it as a toy to get his attention. When I finally got him home, I opened up his crate, (which he is supposed to like right?) turns out, he did not have good crate memories and he cowered and cried for about an hour. I don't know anything about dogs, he's my first, so I went with my gut. Picked him up, layed down in bed with him til he calmed down and he has been my shadow ever since.

I agree that IM would be great. It would also be nice if the dog and cat section for the general questions was seperated. I realize I'm new to the site, so I'm still trying to figure out where everything is and how it works. I do like the site it just seems like it would be easier to find general info if those two categories were sepersted. Thanks for the site.

When it comes to HEALTH issues the forum IS separated for cats.

That was copied from the forum's main page where it shows the sub-forum for cat health issues.

It would be nice to have an "other" animal section or even a livestock section. I haven't seen anything for horses, and they are my most beloved pets of all!
