Dog shakes head, looks in the air, and hides
Hello guys!
I am seeking help from other dog owners in the hope that one of you has had a similar experience to mine. The start About a month ago, after a walk outside in the heat, my dog started shaking his head completely. It looked like something annoyed him a lot and he was doing it quite often (every 5min at least). He barely could sleep of the whole night. Quote:
This was always followed by him looking in the air quickly (as if he was scared or looking for what hurts him), and then hiding under a furniture. Quote:
A month later I visited another vet. Did a blood check, unire test, physical exam. Everything is clean. I am so confused about what is going on with my little doggy. The vet gave him Gabapentin to test if it helps, but he is as clueless as me about what my pet has. I made a video to show a bit this behavior since it is hard to explain. If you have experienced this or know someone who has, please let me know! |

Hi, whippette. Welcome to the board.
Slow connection on this end, so I couldn't see all the video, but two things came to mind. Did the vets palpate the back and/or neck to see if there were any painful areas? Sometimes pain, especially back pain, can cause a dog to be restless and go hide. The other thought that came to mind was that it might be something neurological--mild seizures, maybe? Might be worth exploring. If you are anywhere near a veterinary teaching hospital, that might be a good resource for you to get a diagnosis. They tend to see tricky cases and recognize conditions that regular vets might not have a lot of experience with. Your boy is such a cutie! He needs to feel better soon. I hope you get some answers soon.
