I think an uneducated and irresponsible dog owner are the one that is the most dangerous ! People adopt dogs only by going by how cute they look as a puppy and know nothing about the dog temperament or how big they'll get. I have asked dog owners how their puppy will get and they have no idea . And what made a bred more dangerous one year and not the next year ???

I used to remember our Doberman pinscher. He already passed away but though his included in the list of the dangerous dogs. I still value his ways when he was still with us. He did not look temperamental and not even displayed untoward behavior so far. He is a good and loving dog to us. |

My partner lives in an apartment in Astoria and he decided to adopt a Rottweiler, named Sebastian. Folks there want to get rid of him because tenants are actually terrified that Sebastian might attack anyone when unsupervised which my partner tries really hard to avoid.

Unfortunatley irresponsible owners are often the ones most attracted to these types of breeds. These types of dogs in particular need owners who are not only knowledgeable and experienced enough to train and handle them but also understand how they think and how they may react in certain situations. They need owners who are stewards of the breed. And unfortunately that often means protecting them from other irresponsible owners and their pets who can lead to injuries or accidents resulting in breed hysteria, un-necessary legislation, and even having to put pets to sleep. Each of these are special breeds for special people.

I see a lot people walking their dogs on leashes that expand way out in front of the owners and they have no control of their dogs. The dog is pulling the person all over the place! People need to train their dogs better and do some research on the dog breed before adopting it.
