Dog Biscuit Recipe

[Muffincake]

A friend of mine gave me this recipe for dog biscuits. I am going to try try it out tonight. I hope Muffy likes them (I may also have my hubby try them as well)

3 cups whole wheat or potato flour
3/4 cup hot water or meat juices
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1/3 cup margarine
1 egg, beaten

Preparation time: 20 minutes. Cooking time: 50 minutes. Yield: 1 1/2 pounds.

In a large bowl, pour hot water over margarine. Stir in powdered milk, salt, and egg. Add flour, half a cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead 3-4 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to make a stiff dough. Pat or roll to 1/2" in thickness and cut out with a biscuit cutter. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 325 ° F for 50 minutes. Allow to cool and dry out until hard.

Hello! I appreciate what you posted! I'm also looking for a homemade recipe for our dog. Its a good alternative for his usual food. I will definitely try this dog biscuit recipe before his birthday.

Hi everyone,
I found this hypoallergenic dog treat recipe on web a while ago, not sure who came up with it, but my Cooper loved it, it's still something that I make quite often.

Let's call it "HA Treat" :

Ingredients

1 Cup Rice Flour
½ Cup Oatmeal
½ Cup Almond Butter
2 Eggs
2 Tbsp. Water

Instructions

Oven to 350˚.

In a bowl combine all ingredients except the water and mix. Add water a teaspoon at a time until a dough comes together.

Roll the dough out to ¼ inch thickness on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.

Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350˚ until slightly browned on the bottoms, about 12 minutes.

Remove and let cool. Store in an airtight container.

Those actually sound good enough for me to eat, Samantha! Seems like they'd be easy enough, too--might have to give them a try for dogs' holiday festivities!

Haha, why not?! Sometimes I catch myself caring more for my dog's nutrition than my own, thereby his food may taste even better than mine does!
