Thanks, Barkingdog and Jull. Unfortunately the Dr's appointment didn't go well, she wanted to admit me to hospital, but I talked her out of that. I do have to go back tomorrow though to talk about results of more tests, so right now I'd best get to bed, it is VERY late. Nice birthday regardless anyway, with so many online friends wishing me well.

I am really sorry to hear you need to go for more testing . I hope you'll be okay.

I was told today that I will most likely be referred to a specialist. The result of yesterday's blood test(5 days after the bad result) are a fraction better, though kidney disease I think is all downhill. Not to worry, if I had acute kidney failure like my poor darling sheltie, Silk, I still already have had 15 and 12 more years than two dear friends of mine that died from cancer, and a whole lifetime more than some poor children who never experience a life. Only the good die young they say, so I'll be around forever. LOL.

You think Roo will live that long, DD? Be nice if he did.
I am going to quit my old Dr and be Rowena's patient if she'll have me. I have an ectopic(misplaced) kidney. Now, seeing I know exactly where it is and have suffered twinges all my life, what would you think of a Dr that wanted to argue about it when I told him my kidney is playing up? Or one who knows you are suffering moderate kidney disease and doesn't tell you? Or fobs you off when you ask to see blood results? Not good enough, is it? Now I'm verging on serious CKD I certainly will be demanding that I be kept informed! CsqU4r3d, little Roo is such a little toughie. He won't take no for an answer. Well, he has to from me but bounces back undaunted from anything Jarrah has dished out so far. He has met our Persian cat now and that went off well, he was just interested, he didn't scare Pheobe. Next trauma(for me) will be a bath. He loves water so it won't frighten him, the hair dryer might though. Then off to the vet for a needle, and maybe to meet some shoppers. He is definitely going to be a guard dog, growling at visitors, so it's important he meets more people. |

Roo is certainly an adorable (and still a very serious looking little guy)
He's very photogenic!! Give him a squeeze for me! And I'm very sorry to be reading about your kidney issues. I'd certainly be looking for another doctor as well. That's not something that should ever be kept from any patient. Do they know what stage the failure is? We're going through this with my daddy right now. He just dropped down to stage 4, but they said he can live for several yrs before reaching stage 5... so that's what we're hoping and praying for I'll make sure and say a special prayer for you as well

And happy belated birthday!! Sorry to hear about your kidney issues. And your doctor issues--I'd sure as heck drop the old doc asap. Bah...

Yup, time for a new doc. I like the idea of Roo taking care of him. I was being optimistic for you and Roo at choosing 17. You never know, Roo could do it, and so will you! Because I said so. (And Lupa doesn't like that either!)

Robyn, sorry to hear about your dad. I've been stage 3 for ages and this is when(I read) you should be referred to a specialist. Well, not by my Dr, and when I asked for a copy of my blood results he fobbed me off, saying that the girls would have to copy about 6 pages. Well, big deal, huh? They wouldn't be doing it by hand! So, I went straight up to Pathology and asked for a copy to be sent to me , and do that now every time bloods are taken. I was 1 point off stage 4 when Dr Rowena did a panic over it, but then I think another test taken that day showed an eGFR reading of 40, not 30, so that was better. If you are on Facebook, look me up there(Betty Kennedy), I'd be interested in the advice your dad is getting.
If anyone else wants to see more Roo photo's, that's the place to go too. Just send me a friend request. Hazel, Roo, scrumptious? Hmmmm! Have to think about that, He can look so innocent that you long to pick him up and cuddle him, but then you have to wonder if he's going to be in that mood to bite your lip or ear off. When he's in a loving mood he does give a very good licking. |

That's how Cole was as a pup, too, GF. In fact, he still likes to give 'love nibbles' on your chin...cute but they hurt. Still, he's the sweetest thing going!

No doubt you'll notice how much Roo has grown. I bought him a 'Cuddle Cow' soft toy with a squeaker in it, thinking how appropriate for a baby cattle dog, BUT knowing the novelty would wear off in maybe 2 minutes. LOL. Sure enough, discarded along with all the other toys. He'd rather chew on Jarrah and try to drag her around. I'll try and put more photo's on tonight, I have to go excise them now.

He has grown! Gettin' handsomer by the minute, too! The cow is pretty cute, too!
Been wondering where you were, GF! Glad you checked in!

Roo's Puppy Licence has almost expired as you can see by Matthew's reaction in the second photo. Even Jarrah is now trying to put him in his place. She is inclined to use her weight to subdue him sometimes, she'll deliberately lean on him. LOL.

You'd think that grip he has on her ear MUST hurt. She is so tolerant. The caption for the second photo should be, if you can't beat them, squash them. LOL.

Roo can always find a good vantage point to see what's going on.
Second photo is to show the height difference now. Third is to show his rather strange heeling style, always between the back legs and biting the hind leg as he goes. Hope he never tries that with a cow. |

The toy that has held his interest the longest? A flower pot. Go figure.
Empty egg cartons were great too. He'll even try to heel her lying down, good puppy. It's an instinct I like to see. |

Jarrah has to be one of the most patient dogs around, your very lucky. That was a great action shot of your Sheltie letting Roo know he's no longer a cute little puppy but instead a real pain in the butt. Did Roo stay away from him after that?

No, Roo isn't put off very long by anything the shelties can do. He needs another hammering from Dundee I think. He scared the daylights out of him a while back so now Roo respects him. I have to intervene when he gets too rough with them. He'll not understand why they go for him, then he gets more determined and runs from one to the other, getting in their faces. I honestly don't know how we'd have managed without Jarrah, she is worth her weight in gold.

What a doll he is, GF!!
Jarrah is like our Cole. There's a reason we call him the Sheriff--he's always policing the rest of the Pack. If someone gets too rough, he's on it right away and breaks it up! But he's extremely gentle and doesn't hurt anyone--uses his body mass and attitude to get the upper hand!

He sure looks like a handful! Jarrah is so patient with him. Matthew is more to Halo's style though. Well not entirely. Halo sounds like Cole. More like the "out of control" police. I like your expression his puppy licence is expiring. I must use that one.

Hazel, she is sometimes overwhelmed by him, especially if it it hot and all he wants to do is wrestle. Scares me to think how I'd manage him if I'm away for a show weekend. Reckon I'd need to take a puppy pen for twice daily play, but then he has no-one to play with.
Barkingdog, I always gave the shelties bottles with a few stones in them, they love the noise they make. Roo doesn't, so might have to remove the stones and try him again. DD, how are your babies going? Are they rough pups like this guy? I sincerely hope not. |
