after the poopy
Hi, My dog Charlie will empty his bowels and then he has like jelly that he pushes out. He then scoots. Does anyone know what the jelly is and why it happens. He does this mainly on walks not in the yard.

That jelly or mucous is usually a sign of colitis. Could be from stress, and might just be noticed on walks as you are right there with him on a lead.
sometimes it can be caused by a food allergy or intolerance. If your dog is on grains, I would find/make a grain free diet. A small amt of pumkin (1 tsp-1tbsp/meal) can help, but we have found that a change of diet is in order. |

You should find canned pumpkin puree at your grocery store , with the pie fillings. Be careful , do NOT buy the pie filling but the pure pumpkin puree.
It's a large can so to not waste any , I freeze the remaining in ice cube trays. If after 2-3 days , his poop is not better , please take your dog to your vet for a stool testing. |

Welcome...you may want to have the vet give your pup a quick look over to make sure his anal glands are secreting properly as well...the scooting is usually a sign that they have not released and the dog try's themselves to do it. Its a pretty gross smell so be thankful he is doing it outside!
