Here's Dr Lisa Pierson's website.
http://www.catinfo.org/ http://www.catinfo.org/commercialcannedfoods.htm It gives you info about the best cat foods (all canned. She does not recommend kibble for cats), as well as instructions on how to prepare a raw diet. You will also find various health-related info. The second link will take you straight to the food page. Enjoy!

Thank you ChessGator for that link.
I would like my cats to eat Wellness and/or Felidae canned, and have tried feeding them that, but they won't eat it! Any suggestions as to how to get them to eat? Currently I have one that will eat Wellness Core, but it is kibble, the other, who has kidney damage from a previous poisoning, will only eat PC Salmon, and Fancy Feast the fish varieties. Maybe I am spoiling them too much. My foster Momma has no problems eating Wellness and Felidae. |

Here are some tips for transitioning to wet food: http://www.catinfo.org/#Transitionin...o_Canned_Food_
It took me almost a year to get my cat completely over to wet, no dry whatsoever, but it was complicated by his diabetes. If I can do it, anyone can!! The best tip I can give you is to start meal-feeding if you're free-feeding right now. A cat that is nibbling on dry food all day is not going to be hungry enough when you do offer some canned. In my case, I found that crushing kibble into a powder and sprinkling it on top of the canned at least helps a cat to recognize wet food as food. You can also get other "flavour enhancers" like freeze-dried chicken or liver that can be used to top-dress the food. Persistence is key. Too many times people offer their cat canned food once, it turns up it's nose, and from then on they say their cat won't touch it. My argument is that it's too important for a cat's health not to try harder! So good luck to you. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

Thanks Sugarcatmom. I do free feed dry and meal feed the canned. I will take their kibble away as a start. I knew it was because they are too spoiled .

It is indeed a good price for that brand. That's what I feed my cat as well.
Just to give you an idea, a can of Prescription Diet of the same size costs about the same, if not more, and the difference in quality is stellar. So yeah, it's a good deal for what you get.

We've been looking in to getting Viand for our cat (the dogs are already on it). It's a really good product but the reason I mention it is that it's not on many of the comparison sites. The dog food was on one of them and that got a really great review but the cats foods are strangely absent.
our dogs saw an improvement so I'm sure the cat food is just as good Anyway Good luck with finding something for your cat |

My cats are now on Wellness, grain free, Nature's Variety Instinct, Hounds & Gatos and a variety of other quality canned mixed with home made raw. I believe changing their food to a quality one has extended Puddles's life by years (she's the one that got into the poison).
