jack russell help
hey guys, we adopted our second jack russell last night, a 2 month old boy. weve got a 7 year old male aswell. gets along with all other dogs big and small, fairly well trained for a jack, great all around dog. last night we introduced them in the park near our house, lots of sniffing, no aggression lots of tail wagging, everything seemed great. brought them into the back yard to play some more, still fine. took them home and the older male kept sniffing at him and playing with him, being very affectionate towards him but a little forecful with his love as he tends to be with us aswell. today he wants nothing to do with the puppy. the puppy tries to play with him and he just ignores him. i guess its better than showing aggression towards the puppy. as ive only ever been around homes with multiple jacks that were living together for a long period of time, how long can i expect my stubborn older male to take to come around to the puppy? we make sure he gets fed first, pet first, we play with him and do our best to make sure he knows hes still our number one dog just to prevent any sort of jack revenge from him, i just hope he turns his attitude around soon. anyone have any experience with housing two males together like this? both are crated when were not home and sleeping while the puppy is being crate trained.

All normal. Give the dogs time to adjust. Also ensure to let the older jack has alone time without the presence of an annoying puppy.
Based on the pics you provided, I dare say that your boy is adjusting famously with the puppy. |

Cute pics
As a JRT breeder and someone who works with JRT rescue (well not as much these days as I would like) Be careful. Same sex aggression is VERY normal in the breed. They typically get along when one is young (ie under 2-3) I have heard many examples and lived with one occurrence where dogs who got along fantastically started fighting one one became mature. Just something to be aware of. The JRTCC and JRTCA websites state never leaving two same sex JRTs alone, and recommend not getting the same sex dogs if avoidable.
