My 11 year old female calico appears to have had a small stroke or seizure this morn. She had some involuntary muscle contractions and had a hard time walking, pupils were fully dilated and nonresponsive, with heavy rapid labored breathing. It did not last long...she seems to be ok now, but was wondering if there was something you would recommend, like baby aspirin to help thin the blood, or some type of meds...any recommendations....PLEASE help me help my baby!! Thanks, Herp-Art
YES THE BEST ANSWER...TAKE CAT TO VET...OBVIOUSLY...YOU ALL DONT QUITE GET THE SITUATION....I LIVE IN COLORADO HIGH COUNTRY...VET TAKES 2-3 DAYS TO GET HERE.... Last edited by Herp-Art; August 7th, 2006 at 12:12 PM. |

Please take your cat to the vet immediately, we can do nothing for you here.

Ok - you don't have ready access to a vet.
We CAN NOT diagnose your cat on line. Even if I were a veterinarian I wouldn't diagnose your cat over the internet. There is absolutely no substitute for actual veterinary medicine and we have argued with people here while their pets DIED before. I am sure that if you had a stroke or a seizure, you would find a way to get medical attention. Your cat deserves the same consideration.

i think waiting 3-4 days for vet to come to your house is better than us saying something to diagnose it....how irresponsible. You'd rather have a bunch of untrained pet owners who have never gone to vet school to tell you what you should give your cat than to wait a bit for a professional to give you an accurate idea of what happened.
for the sake of your cat I hope it wasn't a seizure or stroke |

Until she can see a vet, keep her quiet and warm, make sure she eats/drinks, and absolutely NO aspirin or any other OTC meds, you could easily make things worse.

I feel so helpless, I know boatloads about herps(I have done open surgery, and do all my own fecal exams, ETC...), as a breeder/owner of cold blood for over 30 yrs now, thats where all my knowledge lies...but my little purr box is just one of the many love of my life. (AND TO POSTER THAT FEELS IT WAS IRRESPONCIBLE...GO JUMP)I was hopping there was a VET that might give a recommendation until my country Doc gets here...HES OUT IN THE FIELD, couldnt get a recomendation from him, just spoke w/ ans. service!! She is doing great now...within a half an hour she was back playn'-&-purrn', but he is still on the way...durn bloodwork is pricy living in the boonies...THANKS FOR ALL THE CONCERN, MY FIRST TIME ON THE SITE, GREAT FOLKS!! BLESSED BE, NAMASTE..AND TAKE CARE!!

Thread closed. This is not the place to get information as a substitution for a vet visit.
