Incontinence

I've been noticing piddle spots for a few weeks now, but with recently potty trained toddler, and badly behaved male dog who is just stopping now(because I don't let him out of my sight) I wasn't sure until I saw the urine leaking out right now. She is licking a lot and seems uncomfortable. I read a couple of the other threads, and am wondering how you can tell if your dogs urine is dilute. I'm making an appointment with the vet for her on monday, but what can I do for her until then?

#ETA I also wanted to say, Echo had her teeth cleaned and a few bad teeth removed in April, and before she had surgery she had a complete blood panel done and the vet said everything looked good. I'm pretty sure she has a UTI, not kidney failure.

You could buy some dog diapers until you get to the vet .

Thanks I'll do that today. I tried to make one out of an old pair of underwear and an old cloth diaper insert, but it came off during the night.

Dilute urine often has very little color to it, but it's hard to tell, sometimes that is masked by what they've eaten, vitamins, etc.

It's controversial about antibiotics after teeeth cleaning, but if there was significant buildup on the teeth, that can spread infection into the body after a cleaning.

She had an abcessed tooth and had antibiotics both before and after her surgery.

Maybe the abx threw her off and the wrong stuff grew - good luck at the vet on Monday, hope you get a clear answer.

Hi, I just wanted to update, I did take Echo to the vet, and it turned out that she did have a uti, but it was a secondary uti, caused by her leaking urine. The cause: low estrogen. Apparently this can happen to around 1 in 3 spayed females. Echo was spayed at a very young age-4-6 weeks, so maybe that is why she is affected, I don't know. But 3 weeks of antibiotics and a weekly dose of estrogen and she has been fine. Thanks for all your advice!
