Everyone gets along so well at your dog park! I love how the little dogs just move right in and mingle.

Your two really do look very happy in the back of the vehicle! A successful day to their minds!

Your pups certainly do look very relaxed and content . Did you end up getting goobered on by that Golden coming at you ?

ps. just noticed your signature...how accurate .

I'd be wanting to plant some trees and beautify it, but that's just the gardener in me coming out. If I had need of attending a dog park, I think with my breed I wouldn't dare anyway, some cattle dogs seem to like to fight. I adore your little wire haired Dachy. If that's the dog park I can see through the front of the car, it's a lovely big area. The dogs do look ready to go home for a nap.

Yes, that is what you see through the van window. It is a lovely big area, more than two acres. Would love some trees, and proper gates on the far corners, and a water source.... however, we do have a dog park--was an old soccer field. For a town of 6000, is not bad--many larger towns have none.

People for the most part are good about picking up, two large garbage cans available that the town keeps dumped, and a supply of grocery bags at the main gates for those who do not bring their own poop bags. The odd dog is a problem [well, their owners are], but they soon realize they are outnumbered by social dogs, and owners to protect them.
An amazing number use it-- I can go there once a week and see new dogs every time! The golden didn't goober me--he was after the water I brought--today I was the only one who did--newbies don't realize you need to at first!

Lyric appreciates the compliment, Goldfields. [psst, he is a long haired mini dachshund, not a wire, but that's ok]

Oh dear, sincere apologies to Lyric, I do know the difference as I knew people who showed wires , that slip was just a senior moment, sorry! The funniest mistake I've made, at a show, was I walked past a dog and thought that is an ugly Lab, but it wasn't a Lab, it was a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I also took an immediate dislike to a strange looking cattle dog, and that wasn't one either, it was a Stumpy Tail.
I agree you are privileged to have a dog park, I refused to attend obedience with my dogs where I am because they don't do it in a secure, fenced area. Would your Council allow you to improve the park with trees?
Be careful about offering water to strange dogs. I had my first Ch cattle dog at a show one day and like a fool I let a woman's Kelpie pup drink out of her water bowl. I was travelling with a friend who bred Chi's. Well, regardless of vaccination, 10 days later that bitch was down with parvo, and a Chi belonging to my friend, which travelled in her van the next day, died of the same. My girl survived. Found out later that the Kelpie's owner had Parvo go through her kennel prior to that show and hadn't quarantioned the survivors. Won't say what I think of her. Irresponsible people are everywhere though.

I am careful with the water--ask if dogs have all their shots as the sign at the gates requests, and wait til I know the owners a bit before they get to share. I try to let mine drink their fill, then allow others to use the container afterwards--and have another for a second drink for mine.

I would imagine we could plant our own trees, but--council at this point is not spending money on the dog park. I think they will have to as it is getting more and more use. I mean to go to a council meeting and ask what future plans are.
