products for drowsiness..for flying on plane

I am flying with my cat and she is going into the cabin with me. She can get extremely stressed and agitated. I was wondering about buying something to make her drowsy. I am not talking about a sedative. Just something that will make her sleepy and that i can get over the counter.

Anyone recommend a safe product. Thanks alot

NoashGrey, I was just introduced to this article called Clipnosis, I have no idea if it is something that should be left on for any length of time but take a look at it. It really works well on most cats. The Edmonton Humane society has started using these and are finding them very helpful.

Thanks...it looks interesting, but i think if left on for a extended period of time, my cat would try and get it off. That im sure off.

I think a drowsy pill would be more effective.

Clipnosis... what a clever name for it lol. I've used this technique as well... but I never had a clip specially designed for it, and yes, it makes working with irritable cats a lot easier! I do share pbpatti's thought that it may not be suitable for any lengthy periods of time.

There are anti anxiety pills that you can pick up at pet stores. I unfortunately couldn't tell you whether they are effective or not. They aren't terribly expensive.

Rescue Remedy? DAP for cats? Beer? Beer worked on our ESS, don't know if cats will drink it. Of course you will want to try anything at home in advance to be sure it helps and won't hurt in some way. No suggestions from your Vet?

Not to worry you but did you hear about this recent cat travelling story?

Extra check on all kennel closures is warranted. I know you would do that anyway. Actually, you might check your flight is still OK with her in the cabin.
