These books aren't specifically about pet nutrition--more a comprehensive holisitic approach to having dogs. I've really enjoyed them--and the cost for both books was only $9

They're Ebooks, you pay for them and then download them to your computer--read them in Acrobat. Here's the URL:

the dr pitcairn one? i highly doubt it!

let me peek in my book...

yep, he says ok to feed raisins & other dried fruit (not grapes) as occasional snacks...

i found this on the web:

Quote:
Although many dog owners and dog trainers have traditionally used raisins and grapes as treats, RAISINS AND GRAPES IN LARGE QUANTITIES CAN BE LETHAL TO DOGS. As few as a handful of raisins or grapes can make a dog ill; however, of the 10 cases reported to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC), each dog ingested between 9 ounces and 2 pounds of grapes or raisins.
snopes agrees on the danger: http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/raisins.asp

so i don't know what to make of this. the entire book is fantastic and endorsed by vets and associations all over the world....

I find that all the books have some inconsistencies or something that I don’t agree with …

I placed orders for these 2 books.

Amy other books that are worth checking out?

I found that "Food Pets Die For" and "Protect Your Pet: More Shocking Facts" by Ann N Martin were very well done (although she does not support BARF)

I will second Technodoll's recommendation of Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats, I have that book too and still refer to it! If you are interested in BARF, my fav is "The Holistic Guide for a Healthy Dog" by Wendy Volhard

My pet related bible has become "The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care" by CJ Puotinen... but that one deals with a lot more than nutrition (so it doesn't cover nutrition as in-depth as other books)!

www.dogwise.com probably has some more technical nutrition books!

Dr. Pitcairn's "Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats" has a 3rd edition out now... But they are not the only one's who think giving raisins is okay, I have read it a couple of times in both nutrition and training related books.
