Goodbye my sweet Billy

Derek and I arrived home around 4pm today from the vet. We took Billy in around 2pm for his final appointment. He went peacefully in Derek's arms. The vet said he probably would have passed away within a couple of days. We chose euthanasia as he was in severe pain. He was doing well up until Saturday and then Sunday morning a large mass appeared at the previous cancer site. By Monday he couldn't walk and the mass had ruptured. RIP our so very sweet natured boy. You were loved so much by so many.

I'm so sorry, Lynne. He was such an awesome boy--and so lucky to have been loved by you and your family.

Lynne so sorry to hear about Billy passing. You did him the ultimate favour by letting him go with dignity. He will always be alive in your heart and memories.

Thanks so much for everyone's words of support. We all know how deeply our pets become part of our family. As a rescue, Billy came with some wild challenges. He certainly proved that the hardest, toughest challenges turn out to be the most satisfying and rewarding experiences ever. I'd get another rescue in a heartbeat .... just not right now
