Chihuahua spaying

Hi,
Just wondering when the best time is to spay my 4mth old chihuahua,Bella. The vet said 5mths, but I have heard that 8mths is better. I was told it could stunt her growth and I would like her to reach her full potential. She is just over 3lbs now and her parents are 5 & 6lbs. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

i would do it as soon as possible; it does not stunt the growth. If she goes into heat, which can happen at 6 months and sometimes even earlier than that, it is a lot harder to spay and will cost a little more.

I'd do it sooner rather than later too. My friend just got a rescue puppy who's mother was 8 months old (um - young). They were holding off spaying her for the 'full potential' argument, and then she was pregnant.
