Irish setter has 16 pups - a record?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770

Wow I can not imagine the work load of 16 puppies. I thought 10 was outrageous!

omg--all I can think of is all those puppy teeth and all the chapping! I suspect that Poor Dear Mum is going to be ecstatic at weaning time! Look at all those little butts!

$$$ or not, these are show dogs who were bred by a woman with 35 years experience and who seems to know her stuff. Look at how she fed them. I doubt she makes a killing on puppies.

I love Irish Setters...they're one of my favourite breeds We used to own a Gordon Setter...one day I'll have an Irish Setter.

She also mentioned that she thought this may be the dogs first and last litter.

Let's see...

They currently own 14 adult Irish Setters. This litter is 16. They are keeping 4 for showing.

So that's 18 dogs.

The other 12 puppies selling for 700 pounds a piece... round it up to N. American money and estimate roughly $1400 per puppy. That's $16,800 for the batch of pups.

How much do fish n' chips cost in the UK? I dunno but you'd need at least a few pounds in weight for each meal. I imagine that dam must have eaten 6 times her normal amount of food while pregnant with 16. During Thanksgiving season, it was rumored that prices of organic turkeys were going as high as 200 pounds each. In the UK food costs are outrageous, but it's getting like that everywhere these days.

Figure in vet bills and food bills for all those dogs, plus money needed for traveling to shows...maybe a full time pooper scooper employee.

Hard to tell if they are rolling in the dough or not. Then again, they run a boarding facility.

Couldn't find a regular website for them... only business listings.
