How's this for a reason to give your cat away!!! It won't use the toilet to go poo!!

Looking on Kijiji locally here in Saskatoon and came across this:

Quote:
Her name is Jasmin. Supposedly, she's an odd-eyed american short-hair mixed with Turkish Angora. We have had her since she was 4 weeks old. We are giving her away because we have 3 cats in toatl, whom of which are all toilet trained, but she's being stubborn and refuses to go #2 in the toilet( therefore goes elsewhere), and I don't want to deal with litter/litterboxes/scooping ever again! She loves the litterbox, and has no problem using it....

She's four years old and they've had her since she was four weeks. How can you not have an emotional attachment to her? s big time! At least they had enough sense to ask for a little money instead of giving her away free. But still - s!

Very weird ad. They care enough that she goes to a non smoking home and they did get her spayed.

OMG! I don't even know what to say. I'm speechless.

ETA: I'm sorry, I couldn't keep my mouth shut. I emailed this:

You have some nerve wanting to receive updates after you give her away for such such an idiotic reason.

I hope some day someone tosses you away for something so stupid. After all, they probably won't have an attachment to you.

Nobody likes having to clean out litter, Please! But my heavens that is no reason to give you a cat you've had in your home for 4 years! Did they ever even love that poor girl?

What really frosted my @ss was they wanted to periodically check up on her after they gave her away! That's why I had to write something.

Why don't they just get a stuffed cat? They don't eat, poop or pee.

You have pets you have to deal with the fact they poop! And you will have to clean that up!

So she hates litter, but it's okay to leave the toilet open all day and come home to those floaters?

I considered trying to toilet train Vlad when I first got him. I did so because placement of litter boxes in the apartment I was living was difficult. But as I thought about it and read information pro/con I decided against it. I worked around the litter box placement and just dealt with having them in obstructive spots. When I got Oksana I was doubly glad I changed my mind because one day she jumped on the seat just because she wanted to get on the counter and lost her footing and fell inside! (it was clean btw)

I'd be more afraid for my furry's to fall in and drown. I can deal with litter boxes, big deal. I'd rather have that than wondering if they have fallen in, or coming home to a smelly toilet.

I bet when this person has company she keeps the toilet seats down and her poor cats have to hold it in.

What I think is sad is cats really love to dig and cover things. It is in their instinct. Sad these ones are forced to miss that.

AG I agree with what you said about them maybe falling in. How'd u like to come home one day and find your cat in the bowl cuz for some reason it couldn't get out. Plus, I'm sure you'd end up cleaning up poop that doesn't fall off right or pee that is aimed wrong at time.

Here's something really sad to think about too. What happens when her present cats that are using the toilet get older and it's harder for them to jump up on the toilet seat? They won't be able to jump up there or won't even want to because it's too much trouble for an old kitty. They will probably start going elsewhere, so then there will be the problem with those cats not using the toilet.

Is she going to give them away too?

I thought you guys might find this interesting.

This person emailed me back:

----- Original Message ----
From: Chantel *** <tilly***@yahoo.ca>
To: nurivamp@yahoo.com
Sent: Tuesday, July 8, 2008 5:43:57 PM
Subject: Re: Reply to your "White, med-length hair, beautiful odd-eyed female cat for sale" Ad on Kijiji

You're just jealous that you can't have her biotch! And don't think I don't know who you are!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Um...okay whatever. She may or may not know who I am. Perhaps she knows me from the internet, who knows. I could care less. I wrote her back:

Yeah, what happens when your other cats get old and can't use the toilet. You gonna toss them away too?

No I"m not jealous. I feel sorry for her that just because her owner is too concerned about getting her hands dirty with a litter box she's being tossed away. You've had her since she was a tiny thing, and because she doesn't use the litter box (which btw, burying is an instinct in cats) you are so quick to give her up.

Yeah, okay you know who I am. Who am I? Someone who is obviously a little more compassionate than you.

Whatever, it's your conscience and you're going to have to live with it.

I'm not going back and forth with this person. I've said my peace and I'm done with it.

I use that email for my junk stuff so it's no big deal. Whatever, she has to know what she's doing isn't right, at least I'd hope she does. Not to mention, I'd like to think she got a lot of responses like ours.

Jim, I've got 5 loafers too.

I've got 3 boxes, It takes me less than 5 minutes to clean them all out well. 5 minutes out of a 24 hour day. Hmmm...that's too much!

It's funny, the other day, Mooki was curled up on the sofa and I was watching her (I do a lot of that lately)...anywho, I thought what a perfect colour match she was for my furniture and then laughed because I was thinking that. LOL!

I say this because it certainly was not a reason I picked her how many years ago (didn't even have my furniture then), but there are people who do pick pets that way...sadly. These little ******* with their designer pets that HAVE to fit in a certain way or they are cast off...like the men in their lives...it is very sad. We need better role models for the young folks now days.

I'm actually not outraged by this. To be honest, I'm trying to think if there's a way to get her to "get rid" of all her animals, because this moron doesn't deserve pets.

You'll notice the has now changed the ad If this person has such a problem with scooping the litter box why won't she give the scoop, litter & box along with the cat?

Quote:
Her name is Jasmin. Supposedly, she's an odd-eyed american short-hair mixed with Turkish Angora. Unfortunately we have to give her away, because we are moving to a place that doesn't allow pets, and there aren't any other options. .......
........... Her harness, leash, a couple toys, and her food dish would be included. You would just need a litterbox, scooper and water dish, food and litter. .......
............Finally, I love her very much, so I'm not just going to sell her to just anyone. I have to make sure she goes to a good home.

After she got a few nasty emails I figured she would change the ad. What a complete loser and good comment about the litter box. She doesn't want one but no one else can have it.

You know people in Saskatoon, AG? what a . Didn't this person advertise they have several cats? If they are moving to a place that doesn't allow pets, what is she going to do with the others?

Hey I get around!

This person is so stupid she thinks changing the wording is going to take away from what she's doing, which she obviously knows is WRONG! If I remember correctly she had 4. I guess she's giving the other ones too?
