Bones in poo
My corgi eat home cooked food. Last time i gave him some raw lamb shoulder bones, so far is fine but 1 time his poo have some blood after eating , therefore i stopped giving him.
Recently i give him the raw lamb shank hindquarter tipped bone (the knock part only). I give him enzymes and probiotics hope help him disgest the bones. 1 week once, ate few times, lot of poos (lucky is hard poo), some are white (believe is normal after eating bones, just that is MUCH poos) one time vomitted bit small bones out after eating few hours. Means he is not suitable to eat bones? last week i give him again, and i saw two pcs bones in the poo. Is it normal? Spark |

Yes sometimes our dogs have bone fragments in their poo too. It could mean that you are not feeding the right meat to bone ratio. Probiotic does help break down the bones. We give ours yogurt plain as a probiotic.

Hi Totallyhip,
"Not feeding the right meat to bone ratio" means i must attach more meat in the bone ? (i trimmed meat out and left little meat attached). |

Still learning as I go but....
70% meat, 20% bone, 10% Organs Hopefully someone with more experience will jump in to help clarify your dogs nutritional requirements. Cheers |

I know this ratio, but only 1 snack per week which have high ratio of bones.

So it's more like a 'recreational bone'? Once a week, a large bone with perhaps a bit but not much meat on it?
That shouldn't give any problems. How old is your corgi? Does your dog eat bits off of the bone? Or does he more like scrape the bone, and lick out the marrow? Has there been any more blood in the poo since then? |
