Time to thank our own hero - Frenchy!

Frenchy - for all the tireless work you do for dogs - I thank you.

DEDICATED TO PEOPLE IN RESCUE

I wasn't a pup when I came to your home,
I'd been dumped on the road, left to roam.
Don't remember the people except the pain.
They left me to die in the cold and the rain.
You were driving down the hwy, it was late at night
When you saw the faintest glimmer of light.
You took a chance and turned around
Got out of the van and knelt to the ground.

My quivering body felt the gentlest of hands.
I knew I need not make any demands.
In your heart, and your home, there was always room
For those who would face certain doom.

You healed my body and you healed my heart.
You gave me what I needed, a fresh start.
When I cried at night, you were always there
With soft words, a kiss, a hug to share.

When I misbehaved and would cower with guilt
You only showed love.....up to the hilt.
You loved and cared for me in sickness and health
Our love for each other was more precious than wealth.

Even when you were tired and had a bad day
You'd always come home to me and say,
"I missed you my baby. I'm glad to be back."
Then you'd give me kiss, a hug and a pat.

We'd have a nice dinner then go out to play
There was so much love I wanted to stay.
But my eyes, they faded and my heart grew weak
As my time grew closer you could not speak.

You held me tight, tears flowed from your eyes
We both had to say our sad good byes.
The release from pain we knew must end
No more time on this Earth would we spend
Running in the fields, playing ball
Sitting quietly together at the end of it all.

But our time together is not through
Because I'll be there waiting for you
At the edge of the Rainbow Bridge I'll stand
Until I once again see those gentle hands.
I'll ran to you with tail held high
We will never again have to say goodbye.
My love at death, it does not end
Because you are, indeed, dogs best friend.

Crikey 14+k you made me cry.
I've said it many times Frenchy Rocks, she works tirelessly for these poor pups, what goes around comes around and I know that everytime that she can help that is the only Reward that matters to her.
Thanks Frenchy

WOW.....that poem really touches one's heart.

Frenchy and all the others here that rescue/foster are all awesome for the love and dedication they give to these poor animals. They truly are all 's

TRIBUTE TO RESCUERS

I never knew what toys were for ....until you came along
I never knew what family was ........until you brought me to my mom
I didn't know security, didn't know when I'd eat again
I didn't know so much, until you rescued me, my friend
I sleep in a soft bed, every night, my mom right next to me
She takes me for so many walks with so many things to see
I have two friends right here with me, I never feel alone
I'm clean, I'm brushed, I'm hugged, I'm loved, in my forever home.
I know the job you do gets very hard at times
And when you can't help all of us, it seems like such a crime
But when you tend to be feeling down, and the road, it seems so long
Just remember, I never knew what love was like ....until you came along.

There are so many tributes that can go out to those wonderful people like Frenchy and all those that make a difference in an animals life! and 14+ Kitties thank you so much for bringing this up (and for what you do too!) cause it is really nice to be thanked once in awhile! So if you all are not already in tears here is another one! very touching

Rescued Dog

Once I was a lonely dog, just looking for a home.
I had no forever place to go, no one to call my own.
I wandered up and down the streets, in rain, in heat and snow.
I ate whatever I could find, always on the go.

My skin would itch, my feet were sore, my body ached
with pain. And no one stopped to give a pat or gently say
my name. I never saw a loving glance, I was always on the run.
For people thought that hurting me was really lots of fun.

And then one day I heard a voice so gentle, kind and sweet,
And arms so soft reached down to me and took me off my feet.
"No one again will hurt you," was whispered in my ear.
"You'll have a home to call your own where you will know no fear."
"You will be dry, you will be warm, you'll have enough to eat."
"And rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will all be sweet."
I was afraid I must admit, I've lived so long in fear.
I can't remember when I let a human come so near.
And as she tended to my wounds and bathed and brushed my fur
She told me about the rescue group and what it meant to her.
She said, "We are a circle, a line that never ends.
And in the center there is you, protected by new friends.
And all around you are the ones that check the local pounds,
And those that share their home with you after you've been found."
And all the other folk are searching near and far.
To find the perfect home for you, where you can be a star."
She said, "There is a family, that's waiting patiently,
and pretty soon we'll find them, just you wait and see.
And then they'll join our circle, they'll help to make it grow,
so there'll be room for more like you, who have no place to go."
I waited very patiently, the days they came and went.
Today's the day I thought, my family will be sent.
Then just when I began to think it wasn't meant to be,
there were people standing there, just gazing down at me.
I knew them in a heartbeat, I could tell they felt it too.
They said, "We have been waiting for a special dog like you."
Now every night I say a prayer to all the Gods that be.
"Thank you for the life I live and all you've given me.
But most of all protect the dogs in the pound and on the street.
And send a Rescue Person to lift them off their feet."

It's funny because I was just telling LuckyPenny this afternoon , about all the help I got , from so many people !!

LP , who helped me and Nelly , and who forced me to feed Sam the raw diet she keeps giving us. I could never afford all this meat !
FG and TeriM , for sending me goodies and always telling me to just ask if there is anything ....
Pitgrrl , who gave me dewormers for the dogs last winter , when a cat of mine ate a mouse , who would have thought it would have cost me so much , it sure helped !!!!
Stacer and Rottielover , helped with transportation of fosters. Rottielover took a whole day , drove from Montreal to Toronto and back !!
Breeze , who forced her hubby and son to install a water system so that my dogs could have better water
Poodletalk , who always wants to help with transportation , and did with Chloe
Hazel , even with 8 dogs , who offered help many times
Rainbow , for all the advices and infos
Manon , one of my coworkers who made clothes and boots for Nelly and keeps repairing bed covers that Nelly likes to destroy so much
Julie , a girl from my rescue , who brought me meds last week , from someone who had lost her golden to cancer. These meds are worth near $1000.00 , you don't know how it makes me feel , knowing I can make Sam feel better with these !

Every body else here , who do rescue , help with rescues , do their own rescues , who keeps sending good vibes , who answer my questions about health , members in the TJT for making me laugh when I need it .... I'm sure I'm forgetting people ....

Thank to you all !!! you are all angels !

I don't know how you do all you do, Frenchy. You're such an to all the animals you help and to all the people who are privileged to adopt one of your fosters. The world is a better place because you're on it!

Frenchy, your endless and tireless dedication to rescuing dogs in need makes my heart swell with pride that I cyber know you! You have made a difference to every dog that you have come into contact with. I am sure they will never forget what you have done.

14+: you also go above and beyond for kitties that need your help, give yourself a pat on the back too and from all the kitties that you have saved and spayed/neutered: THANK YOU 14+, WE DON'T WANNA HAVE BABIES ANYMORE

I haven't been here all that long, but some members do stand out for their dedication to fostering and finding homes for these little ones. I don't know either frenchy or 14 personally yet, but I can honestly say I have read many post they have placed and seen the quick action taken to save many furbabies. The world is a better place because of people like these two.
