Absolute favourite Holiday cookie???
Okay, so I'm going to make cookies for my neighbors, and some friends, but if it was up to me, my holidays would only consist of snowball cookies! So I guess, I just want to know the names of other peoples' favorite holdiay cookies, get a feel for what's popular. So if you're in the mood, what's your fav?

Michigan Rock cookies. My grandmother's recipe. But no one else loves them as much as I do. They're not as sweet as the chocolate chip, or the lumberjack cookies that I make at Christmas. So they don't get eaten as quickly--except by me !! Hmmm.... there's no "stuffing my face" icon.

MmmmMmmm... nanaimo bars, for research purposes, suuuure.
J/K I'm pretty sure they are considered cookies, for future reference, we'll just say all kinds of cookies, bar, no bake, drop, whatever, any kind of cookie.... |

What are Michigan Rock Cookies? And what are Lumberjack Cookies?

Michigan Rocks are a bland white cookie with dates and walnuts. They're rather chunky--not a flat disk-like cookie. They're great with a cup of coffee, that sort of thing. Lumberjacks are a cross between a ginger snap and a moasses cookie. Like a molasses/spice cookie. I have no idea how either of these cookies got their very non-descriptive names !! I just know I have to start making them soon.
What is a nanaimo bar? I've heard of snowball cookies but I don't have a recipe for them--I'd love to try them though. I like to add new things. This year I'm making some pignola cookies too. I might make some cookies early and freeze them. |

Nanaimo bars are three layers: a chocolatey graham cracker layer, an icing layer (made with custard powder) and chocolate melted on top.
Like this but less yellowy in the middle layer... (it's more of a really pale off-whitey yellow.) |

Nanaimo bars are great and I have been told that if you eat them by layer they are virtually fat free

Ginger Cookie Boys
I love ginger cookie boys. They are kind of like gingerbread, but not as gingery tasting.
GINGER COOKIE BOYS 1. 1 cup butter 2. 1 ½ cups sugar 3. ½ tsp grated orange rind 4. 2 tbsp corn syrup 5. 1 tsp ginger 6. 2 eggs 7. 3 cups flour 8. 2 tsp. cinnamon 9. ½ tsp cloves 10. ½ tsp salt Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs; beat till fluffy. Add orange peel and syrup; mix well. Stir in sifted dry ingredients. Chill dough thoroughly. On lightly floured surface roll to ¼ inch thick. Cut with gingerbread man cookie cutter. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 8 – 10 minutes. Cool 1 min before removing from pan. Cool and decorate with decorator frosting. DECORATOR FROSTING To one slight –beaten egg white add 5 ml (1 tsp) almond flavour, vanilla or lemon juice; blend in enough icing sugar to give right consistency. Tint with food coloring if desired. Spread on cookies with a knife.

Cookies! cookies! cookies!
My best friend makes the best cookies she calls them Cathy's Cookies (after her sister who invented them) and won't share the recipe. Some best friend. Next favorite would be cinnamon scuffles.

My fav: Rolo Cookies. They are amazing! Its a chocolate cookie rolled into a ball around a rolo, then in the oven it flattens out and when they cool there is a layer of rolo caramel in the middle of a chocolate cookie.
Yummmmm |

Sure!!! Rolo Cookies: 2 1/2 cups flour 3/4 cup cocoa 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup margarine (or butter) 2 tsp vanilla 2 eggs 1/2 cup chopped peacans (this is in the receipe, but we never put them in) 40 rolo cocolates mix margarine and sugar together, then add dry ingredients and mix.
