Polysporin Eye Drops for My Dog?

Good morning.

I am new here - glad to find the forum!

My poor mini-dachshund has a red-looking eye ...this was as a result of a fight instigated by my Yorkie (another issue altogether that I need advice on )

Does anyone know if I can use Polysporin eye drops for her?

We had a great vet but she is gone on mat leave now - and replaced by a horrid vet so I am avoiding taking my dogs in unless I absolutely have to. The new vet just loves to over-charge for everything. Now I am having trouble finding a replacement vet.. :-(

Thank you in advance for your help! I appreciate it

Is there an ER vet hospital you can call and ask them if it's OK to use on your dog? Or try calling your drug store pharmacist and see if they know .

Hi JellyBeansMom,

First off welcome to the forum!

As for your question, I do know people that have used this medication for their pets, but only in conjunction with a vet's 'OK' - Hopefully there are other vets in town. Feel free to post a pic when you can.

Polysporin is for external use. If there is a tear or scrape to the eye surface you should not use it. You need to Vet the dog first to determine that.
