New cat in the neighborhood

A few weeks ago a beautiful grey cat showed up in our neighborhood. He is wearing a collar but there are no id tags. He is a very friendly guy and wants to come in the house. One morning my son came home and found him between the screen and front door. How he got in is beyond me but he managed. It was a cool night so maybe he was cold. One of my neighbors is feeding him but can't keep him because of allergies.
Will this guy eventually go home? Could he be lost? He has been around for at least 3 weeks, maybe more.

Chances are more than one neighbour is feeding the cat... There's also a good chance that he does have a home somewhere near by that also feeds him and takes him in. If you can catch him, see if animal control will come by to scan for a microchip

Where are you located? Have you checked the various websites for lost cats? You might get lucky. (if you send me a pic, I'll post him)

Petfriendly, does Ottawa really have a mobile scanner? I can't believe such a thing exists here.

Have you contacted the SPCA and Humane Society and the local vets? Also, I don`t think it costs anything to place a found ad in the newspaper or the radio station.

New cat

I didn't see him today. Maybe he went home. He is a grey un-neutered male cat. I didn't think he was very old but my neighbor figures he is around 2 years old. I will check out the web sites you provided.

Yes I am 98% sure they have scanners in their vehicles so as to be able to bring an animal straight home if its found. Animal control in Ottawa is done by the by-law enforcement group with the City so maybe they have more money that palces where animal control is done by the Humane Societies?!
