Question lymph nodes swollen

My dog, a chocolate lab, who is 8.5 yrs old (neutered 6 yrs ago) has swollen lymph nodes around base of his penis. Now approximately 1/2 the size of a baseball. His right leg from knee down to his foot was swollen also. He had a shot of benadryl from vet, and lower leg swelling when back to normal. The node around penis is still swollen but no where near normal and it has been 5 days. This came all of a sudden out of nowhere and we brought him to vet. He is in great shape, approximately 85lbs, tall, long, muscular and very smart. He has no problems going to the bathroom, eating, drinking, and has pretty much normal behaviour. He had no sign of blood problems during tests (no cancer signs, lime disease, etc.), he just had biopsy and waiting results. Could it have been an allergy? Something else?

No clue, I hope the biopsy brings good news.
