Best dry dog food for a Beagle

What is the best dry dog food? I have a Beagle and his ears are very ichy I was wonder if I change his food maybe that will help?

lol nothing good Ro'loy And does No frills or Walmart sell and good pet food? Thats where I do my shopping

I would definitely stop feeding him Ol Roy. You need to switch him to a premium dog food which cannot be bought at the supermarket, Walmart, No Frills or places like that. They are only found at small independent pet stores.

My favourite is Orijen (www.championpetfoods.com). There's also Innova (www.naturapet.com) and Canidae (www.canidae.com).

A good website for information is www.dogfoodproject.com and click on all the links on the left hand side of the page....especially "Ingredients to Avoid". Another good site is www.dogaware.com and click on the links there as well.

The only one I can comment about from personal experience is Innova Evo (grain free), but here are some brands I heard much praise about:

Orijen, Canidae, California Natural and Solid Gold.

If you are on a tight budget, the Kirkland brand is not bad. It's about 20 CAN$ for a 40 pound bag, so it's a very good deal, and lot better than Ol'roy, that's for sure.

Stay away from the vet brands like Prescription Diet or Purina. They are full of cheap fillers and are very pricey.

A less expensive but good quality brand of dog food is Acana. It is made by Champion Pet Foods (the maker of Orijen) They have a Salmon & potato as well as a Lamb formula. A few of my fellow dog park users feed their pups this and they are thriving. I second or third the suggestion to buy from independent pet food stores and stay away from Walmart, No Frills, etc.
