Do I get a new puppy?

Hi all

I am really sorry if I am not supposed to be posting this here, I am very new to pets.ca!

I have a Siberian Husky who will be 2 in December, he is desexed. Last year we rescued a puppy (Milly) and she died last week of cancer

She was a great play mate for Jasper and he loved her dearly. I am torn between getting another dog or just letting Jasper be by himself. I must admit he has not seemed to bothered since Milly has been gone but of course I only see him morning and night.

When Jasper was a puppy he was attacked by my sister's VERY jealous dalmation, $2000 worth of vet bills later, he was ok. Jasper is one of the most adorable, fun loving dogs I have ever seen but I am scared that he may hurt the puppy.

Would love ANY suggestions!

Cheers

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Well you got Milly as a pup did you not? and Jasper didnt'er attack her right?

I'd personaly give Jasper a bit of time, he may not show it but i'm sure he misses Milly, then I would get a puppy, maybe try and resuce a older pup that won't annoy him as much, like 5 months old?

Hope this helped, if you get a puppy make sure you post lots of pictures!

Very sorry to hear of your loss.

We had a Golden Retriever that was in her 14th year before she passed on in January. We also have a 5 y.o. Springer Spaniel. They were best buddies and our springer missed his friend.

In July, we adopted a new puppy and she has brought back the life in our Springer.

I agree with Akira and just give Jasper some time. He's only 2 and has plenty of time to be introduced to a new fur friend.

We would love to see some pictures of Jasper--we you have a moment to share.
