The heat and sleep

Hi there,

This is my first post and I hope somebody can help. My dog Fanny is sleeping about 4 hours more then normal. She seems ok and it is hot where we live with no air conditioning. Can heat makes dogs even sleepier? Thank-you

My dog seem to be sleeping more when it hot, he love to take a nap in front of a fan . You could put a fan on the floor for dog if you think it's safe to do. I also have 3 water bowls out for him , be sure to have fresh plenty of water for your dog.

Yes, our cats do too. The cats don't eat as much either. My dog is a Lab, nothing stops him eating. Be careful of exercise in the heat too. Heat stroke can kill. Some dogs take the heat better than others, just like people. My current dog seems to really suffer in the heatmbut he won't slow down on his own, I have to make him.

Thank you for the replies and the fan is a really good idea. Lots of water around but a fan on the floor near where she rests is so smart. THANK-YOU ALL!
