omg, Jemma has that SAME look. Like "Throw it already. I telepathically command you to throw it."

I love these pics!

Ha ha ha yep that stare is VERY powerful.
Oh and if I don't kick or throw whatever she's put in front of me she barks non stop till either I give in and play with her or sometimes I just go in the house. I think that is definitley the border collie side of her, she HAS to "talk" me through everything we do.
She will bark till there is no tomorrow and it drives me insane. I am very thankful my neighbours are so understanding lol.
And hyper! My goodness she is high energy, she will retrieve till she is nearly dragging herself back to you, we have to hide her toys so she relaxes a bit and catches her breath.
As for Shamus....he is such the basset hound. Laid back, plays for maybe 10 minutes then sits down and watches everybody. Only barks when he is asked to or someone comes to the door. He is NICE and QUIET!!!

She's a chow/german shepherd/australian shepherd mix.

My lab has the "Shelby Stare" down pat too. Shamus has the cutest little face.

I can certainly see the Australian Shepherd in Walnut with those beautiful markings. Is there any noticeable Chow in her? Royce is very handsome too....you'd think he'd love to show off that face.

Nah, Royce is the nice one, and he's a bit skittish. Not a mean bone in his body.

The only thing that points to Chow is how heavy bodied and deep chested she is. Really, her profile mostly resembles german shepherd, as do her ears, and she has a perfect german shepherd tail, only aussie shepherd trait is her coloring. Her siblings looked a lot more Chow than her, and she was the only one that came out with the funny pattern, the rest were just plain black or brown.

I'm curious--what about Walnut's pic gave you the hint that she might have some chow, rainbow?

They sure are beauties, MyBirdIsEvil... and why is that? I mean why is your bird evil? I've been wondering about that since I first saw the name earlier this month...

Unfortunately we don't have my evil bird anymore .
We gave her to someone that knew a whole lot more about birds and could give her the time and care that she needed.

She was kind of evil 'cause she hated my b/f and she'd plan ways to figure out how to attack him, lol. If she didn't like you she would bite and then laugh maniacally because she thought it was funny. She absolutely hated men. She had several other personality flaws that made her appear evil, unfortunately these are also the reason she couldn't ever get the attention she needed (parrots require several hours a day of attention devoted strictly to them, just like a child). Quakers have an intelligence and care level on par with an african grey, which we didn't understand when we bought her.
This is her:

Hating men isn't necessarily a flaw...depends on which men and how much trouble they happen to be in! And we're not really off-topic--she certainly looks kissably close even if she did have a tendency to bite lips off....

She hated ALL men...unless they gave her a pretzel, then they were her friend...until the pretzel was gone, then she'd bite them. Unfortunately we couldn't feed her pretzels for 8 hours a day, so she continued to hate men, lol. She'd bite women too, she just wasn't as rabid about it.

I like a bird that asserts herself. Bet she'd get my dogs to toe the line pretty fast! I had a budgie that pretty much ran the house--had the springer cowed into thinking we had angels that would hover over her head and would pull the setter's tail hairs out when he wasn't looking!

I got this one of Jemma a few days ago... Close enough.

She's even turning her cheek so you can plant a big wet one on her.
