Unhappy Baileys vet appointment.

Heres the scoop.
To me it doesn’t look too good at all, but after an hour at the vet with Bailey they found that his heart rate was 60 bpm when he was calm and relaxed and his blood pressure was normal, however, the techs took him out side and ran with him a few minutes and they tested everything again and his heart rate went up to a whopping 68bpm but his blood pressure went through the roof.
They did the thyroid panel and are checking for diabetes as well, I’ll know the results come Monday.
I brought my camera with the little videos and she wants me to email them to her and she is forwarding them on to a neurological specialist, for his take on the staggering, along with all of Baileys report from today and results from his blood work.
She really hopes for our sake it is his thyroid because its easily treatable, however, if it isn’t she said it could be a long hard road.
Im worried.
Bailey is on minimal excersise orders and I have to try to keep him from getting too excited for the next little while until we know whats going on.

Lets all pray and keep our fingers crossed for little B, and hope it is indeed hypothyroidism

Oh and of course the other vet didnt fax over the files for Bailey, but she listened to his heart last month and didnt say anything about it being slow. This all started shortly after that appointment I believe, Im not sure, its all a blur right now.

I hope it's nothing major. Thyroid things can really have huge consequences, and it might explain his grumbly teethiness too...

Good luck Erykah.

The vet is extremely hopeful that it is the thyroid, she will be calling me the instant she gets the results.
She said, just because he doesnt have the usual symptoms of it, doesnt mean that is not what it is.
She could see i was distressed about the whole thing and when I left she sorta rubbed my back/shoulder and said " If you have any other questions feel free to call me" and she gave me her extension number and stuff.
Really compassionate there. I am really pleased with them so far.

Poor sweet Bailey. I'm keeping that it's easily treatable and definitely not life threatening or anything that will limit his mobility in the long run !!

Thanks everyone,
I am having a hard time concentrating on anything other than the dogs lately. Its going to be a long stressfull weekend. I hate waiting. So much goes through your mind:sad:
This morning I got up early with the dogs, ( where i got that energy from is beyond me) and spent some "special" time with Puppy and Bailey.
Just looking into their eyes and knowing that they arent well kills me.
Bailey is definately peeved that he cant run though... when i get the leash out for his walk he sits at the other door as if to say " No mom, I wanna run with everyone else" But... its for his own good.

To top it all off too today a guy in town here asked if I could take his Dobie and find her a home, he is going in for surgery and cant take care of her anymore. (C'mon, seriously)
I had to say no, and mean it this time:sad: I am really at my emotional and finacial limits right now. I have an accont set up for Puppys care, I have been putting money aside every week to make sure there was never a financial problem if he needed something, but I didnt think to start one for Bailey, and now im dipping into Meik and Kitas money Just didnt think ahead at all on this guy....
I hope nothing goes wrong with Meik and Kita for a while.
And as cold as this may sound, my dogs come first and they need me most at this time.
Its hard to say no.

Maybe if the guy funded you... (if it was really about physical care and not about money, he would, right?)

But no, you can't save them all.

I know how you feel. I've had to keep Chase on a leash away from Logan for almost two months now and have another two months to go. It definitely breaks your heart to see the look on their faces.

Hopefully, you'll get some news tomorrow or Monday.

Erykah, if you go thru the internet you'll find many scary scenerios...including what you just found. Waiting is the worst part and I know you'll want to find anything you can on the interent, but that will drive you nuts. I am hoping it's just the thyroid...
