Spaniel has dry, tender nose

Hi everybody!
Tonight when I got home from school I noticed my 8 yr old Spaniel, Charlie seems to have a swollen nose/nostrils, and he seems to be favoring it like it is sore. When I try to touch it he shies away and growls. He was rescued by myself about five years ago now, so his growling is normal to me, but he usually doesn't have a problem with me touching his snout, just picking him up suddenly. He is also shivering some times but I just had him groomed and he was shaved very short, so I thought that that was the problem, but now I wonder. He wasn't left alone so I doubt if he got into anything. Aside from the swollen, sore, dry nose, he seems normal, has an appetite, eager to walk, play etc. If someone could please help me that would be great.

Sounds like he might have an infection or a mass, Darryk. Time for a vet visit, as soon as you can get him in. I hope it's nothing serious!

Welcome to the board to both of you!

Spaniel has

Shivering can be a sign of being cold but also can indicate pain. I think a vet visit is needed.

he might have hurt his nose sniffing when he was outside but as everyone else said, time for a visit to the vet, sounds like he might have a fever. Good luck with him
