Lost Cat - Black and White - Oakville Area ~ Update: CAT FOUND!

Our Cat has been missing since November the 8th.

She is black with white paws, a white patch on her face, neck and belly. She is under a year old and is still quite small and slender. She answers to "petunia".

We live on White Oaks Blvd and our house backs onto the ravine - she often plays in there but always comes back by nightfall - she has now been gone for 5 days and we are very worried : (

We have called the shelters, searched the area, put up flyers, scattered kitty litter around the house, put out her bed, put out some unwashed clothes of ours... she is microchipped too.

We actually used to volunteer at the humane society in Toronto and we adopted Petunia full time (we took her in at 4 days old and bottle fed her...we couldn't give her back!).

Anyway, my girlfriend and I would be totally devastated if she doesn't come home : (

Please let me know if you have seen her.

If you can put her litterbox and/or a worn but unwashed t shirt or pair of smelly shoes of yours out on the deck this may help lead her home.

Go around the neighbourhood at dusk/dawn calling her, rattling a treat container or tap a spoon on her dish or tin of food. Bring a flashlight to pick up the shine off her eyes from under cars/decks/bushes or up trees.

If you can poster the neighbourhood, plus leave one w/ local businesses, schools, pet supply stores, grocery stores, bus stops, vets & all animal shelters in the area that will help garner attention that this kitty has a home who wants her back

Please visit the animal shelters in person often times the shelters are understaffed/over worked with so many animals/requests etc they may not have the time to personally look into each phone call or an emergency/something comes up in the meantime & the request gets overlooked.

Going in person means you can visit & identify the cat right away, if an animal comes in terrified it may act out of character & be labeled as sick or a feral and not be placed with the general population please ask to see these areas as well.

Good luck &

Thanks for the tips : ) We'll go down to the shelter tomorrow in person, and keep searching/calling from dawn till dusk.

If we don't find her by the weekend we're going to try these guys:

Has anyone got any experience with them? They seem legit...and expensive.
We called and he actually recommended to wait for at least a few more days as indoor/outdoor access cats usually find their way home eventually (fingers crossed!).

We went to the shelter and they would not let us view the lost/feral cats. Not only that, the woman told us off about letting our cat outside and basically insinuated we're bad owners : (

PeteUK, so glad to hear your beautiful kitty came home! We love happy endings. The shelter lady should have been a little nicer, especially when you are obviously in distress. That said, you will find many people here support keeping cats indoors. I no longer have cats (and miss them terribly), but mine were indoor only cats and they had no issue with it. Perhaps after kitties adventure you may want to consider trying it for her benefit! Maybe get her used to wearing a harness for outdoor adventures, or build her a run/pen that she can hang in without running off. Again, I'm so glad for you that Petunia came home! She is gorgeous by the way.

Yes, from now on Petunia will be an indoor kitty... at least until she gets a bit older.

On our way to the vet now to get a quick checkup.

FYI - we spoke to another person at the shelter and she was lovely - very helpful and supportive to my girlfriend.
