Homemade Hoodies and Collars :)

My Mom made matching hoodies for Belle and Jelly! SOOO cute! We found a pattern on Simplicity! We estimate these cost about $3.50 each. Very cool!

And some more ribbon collars!

I actually find the fabric ones easier to make so I think I'll make mostly those going forward. But I already bought tons of ribbon I need to use up as well, so I'll be making collars for a while I think, LOL! It's SO fun though!

They're soooooo cute!!! The collars and Petey, Jelly and Belle in them!

I love the hoodies, too--Jelly is looking so grown up! So nice of your mom to make them for the girl!

Those collars are beautiful, Smiley. You ought to go into business making them! Low overhead, light so they ship easily, and they're adorable!

I have to laugh. You have your mom enabling your obsession now, too.

Those collars and clothes look so nice. Definitely the best dressed doggies in town.

I love how so many of your pictures show all 3 of them closely together. Like they are so bonded. Do they ever have tiffs?

you should try to sell these... these collars are more beautiful and stylish than any i have seen in the stores here in toronto... there are a lot of specialty dog boutiques that may be very interested in your product (clothes, collars, etc.)

good luck!

OH,Oh,mom is involved
I am hoping those 3 sweeties have a huge closet
Poor little Bailey(my walking-buddy) only has 2 sweaters and I bought those.

You could also sell some on E-Bay,but I bet you don't want to part with anything, right

The collars are beautiful! and you could make sets of jammies+collars to match...
The only thing I would suggest is that you try a free to post site first, before you hit EBay, as with EBay you will have to pay posting fees regardless if you sold your item or not..lol
I would definitely look into this, the collars are adorable!!

Oh my goodness, thank you all so much for the kind words!!! I don't think I would ever try to go into business, but if anyone here would like me to make them one, I can sure try! Keep in mind, up until a few weeks ago, I had never touched a sewing machine before, so I am still a complete novice and not a very good sewer yet. My stitching isn't very straight and these have only been tested for a very short amount of time on my own dogs so far. Full disclosure and all that, LOL! I can also try to write up some instructions if someone wants to try it for themselves too! I just buy the hardware and nylon webbing online and the ribbon and fabric in local stores. They're easy and cheap to make, so a great project for anyone with a sewing machine to try!

I'm going to be ordering some more hardware, including a few breakaway buckles for cat collars as my sister wants a couple for her kitty. So we'll see how that experiment goes too, LOL!

For the ribbon collars, you need:
nylon webbing
Ribbon
Extra Strength Thread
Heat-n-bond strips or wonderunder or some kind of double-sided interface
Buckle,
Slider
D-Ring

For the Fabric collars:
Fabric (at least big enough to cut a strip four times the final width of the collar and the length of the collar. For example, Petey's neck is 16 inches and wears one inch collars. I cut a strip four inches by 28 inches in length. 16 inch neck size + 6 inches + # of inches you want collar to be adjustable by. I take the neck size + 12 inches. I've seen fabric collars made from cotton or flannel or corduroy).
Medium to Heavy weight Interface (I've seen some fabric collars that are thicker, so I might experiment with some kind of thin padding as well, not sure)
Extra Strength Thread
Buckle
Slider
D-Ring

How about a collar for every season! Halloween, Christmas, Easter, St patricks, Valentines, Thanksgiving, Canada day.and would add a little clip to make his dog tags go easily from collar to collar!!

I'd have the coolest dog in town with those collars!!

LOL, I'm embarrassed to admit that my dogs do have matching collars for every holiday and season and tons more just for fun on top of that. Which is why I finally decided to learn how to make them myself. It was getting too expensive to buy so many, LOL!

Girl - they are gorgeous. Why not go onto e-bay and try??? You may be the next millionaire...you never know. If I had that talent, I am telling you - I would be marketing this. Don't put your talent on the shelf - share it and make a profit! You can do this, and I for one would buy...you have something here.

Also, why not go to the petfood outlet (no animal sales) and put on consignment? There is nothing to loose for the store, nor you.... GO FOR IT!!!

Those hoodies are adorable! And the collars! Wow, those are lovely!

You really should think about selling those.

I wish I could make my own, but I don't have an extra room I could dedicate to having the stuff in there, and with 5 curious cats around, it would be only a matter of time before one of them swallowed something they shouldn't.

I love the polka dot collars, those are just gorgeous! Seriously, you need to sell these! I know I'd at least be good for 5!
