Grain-free, with no fish or beef?
Does anyone know of a grain-free food with no beef or fish, and preferrably not chicken (other dog is allergic to it, but dog that will be eating is as far as I know ok with it), besides Natural Balance? I am just not a fan of the Natural Balance-I don't like their stools on it, and I find it to be an exceptionally greasy food compared to other foods I have fed.
I've taken my new rescue dog off of the Acana Pacifica because I think she is also allergic to fish. I looked at the other Acana and Orijen foods but it doesn't look like with them I can stay away from Beef, Fish, AND grains at the same time. So if anyone has any recommendations, that would be wonderful! I am googling up foods, but would love a place to start. It's unfortunate she seems to get itchy from fish, because I have been really happy with Acana. I would like to get away from the Natural Balance if possible though. I can't do raw because my senior dog doesn't do great on it, plus I do not have a regular fridge and freezer so I don't have the space even if my boy could eat it. Thanks for any help! |

Reanne ~ can't remember if it's grain free off the top of my lid, but didn't Acana come out with a new Bison formula recently?

Yeah there's the Ranchlands formula, but it has beef in it. I wish they had single protein source foods. I would have really preferred to stick with them. I liked being able to feed all Canadian!

Thanks Kathryn! Pinnacle looks good but doing a search it doesn't look like I can get it here. I checked Acana already, none of them will work, sadly The Addiction Venison might work (the others have grains, and also I forgot I don't think Nahla can eat pork either LOL). Only comes up to a 20lb bag though, but worth looking into! I like the look of the Canidae except that salt is pretty high on the ingredient list-anyone have experience with it?
Thanks for the links! |

Well, I might try California Naturals. I wish I could another grain free duck formula, besides the Natural Balance. Ugh...frustrating!

Haven't used this myself but I do recall researching it when I was looking at kibble options. It is NOT inexpensive as I recall.

Another option might be First Mate's grain-free Australian Lamb formula ....
http://www.firstmate.com/dog_food.as...E-C24606A2CF53 They are a Canadian brand and have their own manufacturing plant in Chilliwack, BC. |

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check them out. The ziwipeak can be found pretty close to where I live and I think Firstmate is easy to find. I forgot about them.
Every Acana grainfree formula has either beef or fish in it. Ugh! Thanks for the help!! I think I saw last night that there is an Evo formula we could try too. |

http://www.firstmate.com/where_to_buy.aspx If you decide to go with Evo keep on top of their ingredient list for changes since they are now owned by Proctor & Gamble. Usually large corporations are good at replacing with cheaper ingredients. |

Hm apparently my reply last night didn't work. thanks for the heads up about Evo, I would rather just stay away from it then! FirstMate is available in tons of places here, and I'm goin to check out the Ziwipeak.
Thanks again! |

No luck with the Ziwipeak-nobody carries it here anymore. When we finish this bag of Natural Balance I'll try the FirstMate and see how she does on that. Thanks again
