grief or stress

If one cat has died, the other did not see it but am sure she knew, will that cat get so stressed as to vomit when she has never before, my husband bought home a new kitten just 2 days later and I'm thinking with both Shamie may be really stressed or griefing. Any one have anys thought? thanks

It very well could be. But if it continues, I would take her to the vet. In the meantime maybe seperate her to a quiet room where she can relax away from the new kitten.

thanks but senior kitty has to have the run of the house, so i would have to put baby cat in a bedroom i think I'll try it

My guess and that is all it is because I do not know your whole story - is that it is a combination of factors. If the physical symptoms continue, I would bring her to a vet as soon as possible. If not, she may well be mourning her friend - and cats do indeed mourn those who leave. They are sometimes lost without them, sometimes even refuse to eat which is a real danger to cats - as is loss of nutrition - which is why if she continues to be ill she needs to see a vet!! Add in a new kitten which is yet another change in her life and I would say she is suffering both grief AND stress- cats are easily stressed and this kitty needs lots of extra TLC after losing a cat she was close to.

Just my thougts - but please rule out any physical problems!

she seems to have stopped the vomiting, funny i noticed its when she ate friskies, they both liked meow mix, but yes she soes seem a little lost, the new cats growls(ever hear that before) funny. But shamie is doing better and of course she gets hugies and kisses thanks
