Question about puppy belching after eating?

Well I finally found a food that my puppy loves. He is a 13 month Shih Tzu. Now this was no easy feat. He would eat something for a day then not eat it again. He was never underweight but he just would not eat what I put down. And yes I know if a dog gets hungry enough they are suppose to eat what ever is down but he would go days without eating. I also after sitting down and trying to figure out why he was getting UTI'S for no reason it dawned on me that this all started when I started him on the Natural Balance. I did ask the vet if the food could be behind this and he said no so I never gave it another thought until the 3 time on antibiotics and it would go away for about two weeks then return. The last time he was on 3 types and something to make his urine more acid for 30 days. I go back in about a week just to have his urine checked.

I took the plunge and ordered Only Natural Pet EasyRaw Dehydrated Dog Food and from the first day he loves it. Now this has been 3 weeks and he is still excited to eat. I'm hoping by changing from Natural Balance dry kibbles that his UTI'S will get under control. And because you mix 1 cup of food to 2 cups of water I know if he's eating and not drinking that much he's still getting his fluids.

Heres the problem. I mix this up the night before and put it in a sealed container in the fridge so in the morning it's ready to go. You need to let the food soak up the water for at least 30 minutes but I found that the food works better doing it this way. The package also tells you you can mix up to 4 days worth but I do it day by day. Well he eats the food then for a bit afterwards he is belching and burping.

I never transitioned him to the new food because he wouldn't eat the old so it was a waste. He doesn't have loose stools but he does go more then he use to. Will this slow down? He doesn't have the eye stains that he had prior and his fur looks great. He seems to be very satisfied when he's done eating. I really want the food to work out but I don't know about the belching.

Is he maybe eating too fast and that's causing the burping? If so, try spreading his food out like on a cookie sheet or a large dinner plate, that way he can't grab big bites of food and take in too much air at the same time. As for pooping more, it's probably because he's eating more. If it was loose stool I'd say he was eating too much, but if it's solid and just more I wouldn't worry.

Our Gryphon use to belch after eating. We chalked it up to eating too fast so we started placing a toy (small kong) in the centre of his bowl. This way, he has to eat around the toy which causes the digestion to slow down. He stopped belching!
