high fat food for skinny dogs

I've adopted a feral dog who is extremely skinny and lack of nutritions (loss of teeth and poor coat). Do you know any high fat food which is safe for a dog like this?

What i'm giving him now is canned beef for pets and dry food. I mix them together and hope that the diet is more balanced for him. The quantity of his meals is about 8% of his weight, 3 meals a day, more than any instruction books I read before. Also give him other supplements including mixed vitamin b, calcium , seaweed powder.

After two weeks, i can see that his coat is improved a little bit, but he's still skinny.

Can you recommend food for him? Is it okay to feed him pork with a thick layer of fat?

Feeding a high fat diet can lead to pancreatitis. You'd be better off to feed a high quality kibble. The pork is fine, cooked if you are adding it to the kibble - but skip the layer of fat.

You could also make satin balls which can help the dog gain weight. There are threads here with the recipe.

I have heard that Satin balls put weight on dogs really well. Its basically a mix of ground beef, oatmeal and other ingredients.

I have a dog who has always been very thin and she started to gain more weight on Orijen dog food. She is not overweight but did gain more weight perhaps in muscle mass so she looks much healthier now - probbaly from the higher protein but Orijen also has good levels of fat depending on the kind - I think the fish formula is 18% fat.

Yeah Hight fat is not the way to go here.
Its better to fill the nutrient requirements the dog needs as apposed to adding fat.
I vote high quality kibble or a well balanced raw diet.
