Me neither Prin, I've only ever met one ... and fell in love. One of the places I lived many many moons ago, had Scotties. I wore earplugs alot.
Though if I had to pick a 3rd it would definitely be an Irish Wolfhound...cause they're so darn goofy and happy. |

Mine are basic,
1. Rotties 2. Cocker spaniels ( american) 3. and a toss between Boxers and Danes

1. Boxers, are high high on top of the list. I plan to stick with them! I have to admit that I am a boxer-stalker (if I see one, I have to go meet 'em!)
2. Danes 3. Mastiffs (If I were to *have* to get a small dog, I think I'd try a boston terrier). And I find it very hard to resist american cocker spaniels. |

# 1 ROTTWEILER #2 Dogue de bordeau #3 english mastiff Unless I get too brittle to train a rottweiler, I will never own another breed again. Def not a dog for everyone right erykah1310 |

Lukka is gorgeous! She's an Caucasian Ovcharka right? Are they generally bigger or smaller then the Sarplaninac? All the pics of the Ovcharkas look so different in my dog books, you'd hardly think it's the same dog! Lukka has the best colouring of all that I've seen, really nice coat!
And yes you're absolutely right, they are very protective and NOT a dog for the inexperienced! They'd take over I'm sure and you'd have a big problem on your hands otherwise. Last edited by 100%doglover; October 13th, 2006 at 08:40 AM. |

Lukka is a Caucasian Ovcharka. The size is very much on scale with the Sarplaninac. Lukka'a daddy is 163lbs. and her mom is 130lbs. Lukka is the true bear type Caucasian from the Georgian Republic.

Lucca is just absalutely gorgeous.
As for the size difference in the two,the Ovcharka is just slightly bigger, about 2"(not really noticeable) Met my first Ovcharka about 9 years ago at a dog show. And there is a Sarplaninac(Teddy) in my area.

Those are pretty, Lukka'sma. Umm.. what's the diff between them and leonbergers
Well Prin I don't really know anything about Leonbergers. Have never learned too much about that breed. Comparisons between the breeds doesn't really matter to me, however if it is important to you I suggest that you google them.

BIG dogs!!
I love BIG dogs, and especially the flock guardian breeds! I have to say though, I have never met a dog I didn't love!! I love them all! Although I think small/toy breeds are cute, I don;t think I would ever have one......sorry to all the small/toy breed lovers. (I guess they are to much like cats, and I already have 5 of those)

I'd also say the Leonberger's coat is much more reddish. The sarplaninac is often more gray/silver or even white/creamy (I've been told a lot of them in the region are white/creamy). If you were to see them side by side, I think it would be very easy to tell which one the Leonberger is! Please correct me if I'm wrong Lukka's ma (or anyone else for that matter), I'm sure you might know better... Anyway, I'm happily scanning away more pics from my dog books, I have just too many of them Shhh don't tell the copy right people though |

Danes aren't in rescue as often as black labby mixes.

I had the pleasures as a child having been able to spend my summers and long weekends with 5 of them at my Aunts farm. This is where the love of the breed came from.Along with those five, she had a St.Bernard and a Newfie. And I tell you, having these 7 dogs around you as a child was better then candy....

I bet you find this shocking Mastiffs, Great Danes or any giant breed and Pits and Staffs. The bigger the better more to love .....and drool and hair
