Unhappy Apparently abandoned

Can everyone please crosspost. This guy was found about 10 days ago running up and down a lane way in the Sud-Ouest (Ville Emard). The family has kept him while trying to search for the owner. They put posters, called the SPCA and so far no one's claimed him

I just came from taking his picture and wanted to take a quick peek at his character ... what a sweetheart He's about 7-8 maybe, intact and most prob has never had shots. (this is a very poor area) Not that poor people aren't responsible, it's just I lived there for 6 yrs and this area does have alot of very irresponsible pet owners.

Anyway for now he's safe - here's a photo I'm horrible naming breeds but I see Rotti, Sheppard and maybe even pit?

GG,I am certainly no whiz on dog-breeds,but I see a lot of Doberman in the pic,the way he sits and the way he holds his head.
that he'll find a loving home, before Christmas and thank's to the family who took him in.

LOL Chico I couldn't name a breed if my life depended on it other then say goldens He's def alot of Dobbe (sorry I meant to say Dobb above not Rotti) but I didnt get that shot of when he was smiling at the camera and well his mouth was kinda like a huge cave (very wide) The pictures doesn't do him justice at all, he's really gorgeous and so darn appreciative.

I'm happy this family took him in but really I'm not sure it's the perfect home as they have 4 kids but he's safe for now. I was suppose to of already found him a home, I just haven't had alot of time.

Apparently abandonded.

Judging by the number of dogs we have been contacted about this last week I would say that he has probably been abandoned because someone doesn't want to bother with him during the holidays. You know they are going away and don't want to pay for a kennel and all that stuff.
Yes, that was sarcasm.
My first guess is Dobie but I too am not great at determining breeds.
I hope someone claims him but it is unlikely.

Thanks for the replies. It seems your all right he's been identified as a red dobie, tail and ears intact basically completely o natural as he's not neutered either. Well his picture's been splattered everywhere and no claim so I guess it's safe to say he will need a home.

He seems to really like this family, but they are not financially able to keep him. Don't worry he's fed and loved. I'm going to try and find a way to have him vet checked and given his shots at least. I'm not sure what this could be but he licks his side/belly constantly, the same spot. Could it be a nervous reaction or separation anxiety? Worms?

The vet in the area where I live found a dog like this two years ago. It looked like she just gave birth to, she was found running down the street and no one claimed her. (She was diffently NOT a dog from my town) Very friendly and loveable dog. Anyways, since no one claimed the dog, the vet kept her.

I wonder....if this a backyard breeder dog.....no longer in use.

BYB-Dog no longer in use OMG
Before I joined the Forum,I knew nothing of BYB's,who are breeding pups only for financial gain
Lets hope this beautiful red Dobie is not 7-8 yrs old,but a bit younger,so he will get a home in no-time At least he's safe for now
Friends of mine in Cape Breton NS,had a wonderful red Dobie who lived to be 13yrs old.

Thank you so much Frenchie. I contacted that organization and it's all set ... shots and sterilized and all I have to pay is $100

Just to compare, I called the vet in Ville Emard (my vet now)and shots would of been $96.86 + tax and neutered $185.00 + tax so imagine the savings?

I've made an appointment with the woman so it all works out. I'm bringing her a bag of Solid Gold over the weekend. Im not paying for it, I get the almost expired bags from my local dealer where usually I donate but I want to see if this guys' itch is from Ole Roy *ducking here*

I will keep you all informed. I would like to see this dog stay with this family. They've fallen in love and vice versa it seems - being a bit poor is not important. I'll take more pictures if he'll sit still.

I know he looks puppyish but I'm pretty sure he's like 8. The teeth

Another question: Because he's not neutered and if the vet does say he's 7 or 8 - do you think it's still ok to neuter him <-- just asking?

THANKS to YOU for all you are doing for this dog and his new family ! Don't worry about the neutering, my fosters are usually 7-10 years old and they never had any problems. It's easier for males too, they don't have to be put under that long. If this family want to keep him and are on a low budget, maybe some animal food store could provide them with expire kibble,I mean freshly expired. Or if they can get to a Costco . Kirkland is pretty cheap , that's what I feed them now (lamb and rice formula) du to change in my budget , and they do well on it. Even Bailey who has allergies. Thanks again GG, this family must see you as an they will have a wonderful Christmas !

Well, if anyone know's how good it feels to help a lil - it would b u I think covering his vet bills right now would be a x-mas present like you won't believe for the whole family. They love him and he seems very happy so that's what's important. I'm sure I can bring them the "good stuff" every month - a rescue's a rescue
