Kidney infection after neuter?
My 6 month old pit pup was neutered 2 days ago and seemed fine. Then yesterday he started urinating more than usual around the house (he still has a problem with housebreaking) and then, just now, I heard him drinking water like it was going out of style and he urinated on the floor and, instead of being clear like it usually is, was not dark yellow, but more yellow than I have seen and had a strong urine odor. I'm wondering if possibly he may have a kidney/bladder infection from the surgery. I have had numerous dogs neutered, so I am experienced with after surgery symptoms, but have never seen this before.

Call your Vet but he's probably just fine. He may not have peed because he was bit sore at first and the urine is dark yellow because it's concentrated. He's probably thirsty from the anaesthetic and not eating or drinking much while he was under and recovering. If you are really worried ask your Vet if you can take in a first thing in the morning sample for them to analyze. Me, I'd wait a few days and see if he returns to normal but it's always safest to Vet.

Ever notice how things like this always happen on the weekends? *sigh*
I agree with Longblades--watch him closely today and if you're still not comfortable with his drinking and peeing behavior, then give the vet a call. I hope he's feeling better soon!

Hello, kid as you said your dog have kidney disease? I learned that low phosphorus dog food can work for dog that has kidney disease even it's acute or chronic.
