That does look good! We have a dog on Lasix for her heart. It's a water pill, and low potassium can result from the excess water loss, so we give her pieces of banana to keep her potassium levels up. She doesn't like it much, but eats it to please us. I think she might enjoy the Doggy Ice Cream more than plain banana

Hazel, maybe she'd like some of these other foods better? Some are higher than bananas. I learned about some of these from my Mum and MIL who were both told to boost potassium in their diet.

Hmmm, my boy will eat bananas, but that ice cream might be fun to make for him.

Thanks for that list, Longblades! I think the only foods in that list that Ridge would be likely to eat are bananas and yogurt--which makes the ice cream a really good recipe for her! She might eat the squash, too, though--she likes pumpkin and they're not that dissimilar.

Did you know that there are herbs that have potassium in them? Dried herbs actually have more than the fresh. Basil and parley are two high in potassium and they are safe for dogs. Actually I put a parsley, ginger and garlic mix in my Carly's veggie mush. May-be you could sprinkle a little parsley in the doggy ice cream? I'm including a link to some herbs that are good for dogs. http://moderndogmagazine.com/gallery...d-dogs?slide=6 I also have a book I swear by called "Herbs for Pets" by Gregory L. Tilford and Mary L. Wulff. That book is my go-to more often than any other book I have on my shelves.

Thanks, MarianE! I'll have to check into that!
