Cat had diarrhea after biting some wire
My cat found its way into our drawer while I was in the other room and found a usb cable and was biting on it and bit a small piece off it and threw it on the ground.
A couple hours later I come back home and there is diarrhea all over the floor and I dont remember the colour but I'm pretty sure there wasn't any blood. I cleaned it up and saw another just as small piece of wire under the diarrhea. Im not sure if it was from the poop or if she bit and threw on the ground before. She was sneezing the day before so for all I know the wire had nothing to do with it. She was behaving totally normal as if nothing was wrong and greeted me and was meowing. She has been acting totally normal and eats drinks etc. Plays wildly like always with her ball etc I cleaned her poop today so Im gonna have too see if she poops again but she has peed. She slept today peacefully and used the scratch post. Then went back up and ate a lot of dry food and drank a lot of water. She has also been grooming herself as normal and reacting to our calls and going to all her usual spots all over the house. And also looking outside the window when some weird noise is heard. Pretty much normal like she is every single day. So should I be worried? As I write this its 10:20 pm where I am and its been past 13 hours since she was biting the cable. She is currently grooming herself. |

I know I would be very worried and would of called the vet right away . I would keep a close eye on your cat and have it sleep it your bedroom tonight so you'll be able to see how she is doing. Is there an ER vet to call 24 hour a day near you? If so you could call them up and see what they suggest. Can you tell how much wire your bite off?

My cat stays in my room at night and is in my room currently.
She is eating her food and drinking water. She had a big meal actually 5 mins ago. The two wires I found on the floor were very small, I would say less than 1/3 of my pinky finger. I don't know if she actually swallowed any pieces. Out of the two wires I did find, one was below the diarrhea for some reason, while the other I was able to get before she swallowed it early morning when I caught her doing it and got rid of the wire. The wire below the diarrhea may not have come from her, it may just have been another piece she spit out ... Not sure. The rest of the intact wire is long enough to tell that if she did it was very small. All I know is that she has been acting normal ever since I came home at 2pm. Now it's 11:23 pm. I caught her biting the cable around 9am. Last edited by sagas7; March 10th, 2015 at 10:26 PM. |

I think I too would call an emergency vet just to feel safe....but 'seems' like your kitty got lucky this time around because she is acting normally after 12 hours.

I think it would be wise to see if your cat will need a tetanus shot , especially
if the wire was dirty and rusty . |

I will try to get an appointment or atleast try to talk to the vet soon.
As for my cat. She is doing fine. She pooped today normally. Currently she is making "baby" noises while sun bathing on her belly near the window XD She ate her food and drank plenty of water and is behaving as normal. But I have to say this cat is a nightmare. Maybe I should make another thread about this topic to get feedback....but this cat has a death wish. You guys have no idea how many adjustments I have had to make in my room just to prevent her from killing herself. She will literally try to bite anything. I literally have to move my chair etc and wires into a certain area everytime before I leave the house. Make sure theres something blocking the drawers etc so she can't get in. Now I have had to empty my drawer and keep everything somewhere else. I have no idea what to do. I am always stressed everytime I leave the house. I have baby sat a younger cat before (6-8 months old) and that cat was ok roaming the house alone. My cat is 1 year and 3 months old and we have to lock her in my room every time no one is home. If we don't lock her she would open all the drawers or cabinets or closets and eat something. Last edited by sagas7; March 11th, 2015 at 02:40 PM. |

Does your cat have any toys or cat trees to play with ? She could be bored to death and just need to played with more or get another cat for her to play with.
