Angry Vinnie did it again

He somehow got to 2 stitches AGAIN
My vet is not there today and I am not going to Mississauga Emerg
I need to clean it,I have all kinds of stuff, but not sure what I can use on a cat??
The wound is not as wide open as the first time..
I had him nicely wrapped with gauze and a sterile pad with the Derma-Gel,it lasted about 2 seconds
He is a pain in the butt, but a cute one!!

Never mind,I had a sterile saline solution from when I had to clean my cat-bites,it should be ok,not expired.

How long has it been since the surgery, chico? 9 days or so? I forget...senile, y'know...

Hazel, wait until you get to be my age, then you'll know what senile is all about
He had his surgery on the 15th.hopefully it will heal on it's own, otherwise back to the vet.I'll have to keep an eye on it.
I think we cut too much of the E-Collar,stupid!!
I left half of the collar uncut and turn that to that side at night, but Vinnie has learned,if he shakes his head enough,it turns.

After a week or so, wounds are usually pretty well healed from the inside--granulation, I think they refer to it. So that he'll just heal now and it will close up by itself! Is the wound gaping, or does it just look like a deep slit?

When Jasmine was spayed she managed to rip out two stitches and she healed up okay.

Hopefully, Vinnie will as well.

Hazel, well it is sort of an oval wound, probably needs one stitch, but I'll wait and see what it looks like on Monday.
When he comes out tomorrow I have to somehow cover it,so it does not get dirty, all we need right now is an infection:sad:
I've had a really bad day, everything that could go wrong did, hopefully things will look brighter tomorrow

Rainbow,my dog Mishka did the same and she healed fine, hopefully this little blimp will too
It's so stressful for him at the vet,it takes him hours to recover to his regular sweet self.

Chico if you're concerned about the wound opening, you can always get small butterfly bandages to hold it closed. Any shoppers drug mart carries them.

Remember that 14k used a tube sock by cutting the toe off, ,Maybe that will help....Like Hazel said it is probably pretty well healed on the inside

No,do you mean a boxer,a human
no I have not seen any,but I'll ask the Pharmasist tomorrow.
The first time this happend, the vet tried to glue it closed,it did not work, but the open wound was bigger then, this one is about one centimeter...(10mm).

Personally Chico, if it is that small I wouldn't worry, just be diligent in keeping it clean.

Chris, that's a great idea, forgot all about thatand find a tubesock, maybe a pantyhose would work as well,or maybe not,it would slide.
I still need to cover the wound though..I have lots of antiseptic pads etc..

Ask Hubby what socks he is wearing today Chico

If a tube sock is too small, how about a sleeve from something old that is on the smaller side

Vinnie, noooooooooooooo, not Vinne , or was Rocky or Chico helping him out

14+ idea of using used hoisery may help keep him away from the stitches.

I suspect with a gap that small, chico, that he won't need another stitch at all--provided you can keep the bad boy from worrying at it, anyway. NO MORE LICKING, VINNIE!!!

Were you able to find an old sock he'd fit in? We need pics if you did... (sorry Vinnie...I know it won't be your finest hour )

No it did not work,Vinnie has quiet a girth,a TUBE-TOP would have been better,or whatever you call those thingys young girls wear.
I also tried the pant part of a panty-hose,no way!!
So I ended up getting a finger-bandage putting ointment on it and stick it,there is plenty of air going to the wound, but it won't get dirty when he lays down.
If I had known all the trouble,I would have left the little growth where it was,his mouth is healing nicely though with 2 stitches
Thank's everyone for making my little blimp such a big deal,he's feeling quiet famous

Chico, if he continues then you might consider using a baby size onesy (spell?) or pajamas. You can get them at Zellers or similar super cheap. My friend used one on her small dog when she was spayed and it worked perfectly and she didn't need to use the dreaded cone .

Hope Vinnie gets all better soon .

Teri,he is fine just a bit peeved, but uses it to the tilt
He took the bandage off today and it looks much smaller,so I think it will be ok,I won't put him through the stress of another vet-visit.
I put another bandage on him, with a sterilised pad and the derma-gel,I think in a few days I can take that awful cone off him
The problem is,the wound is in a dumb place, right beside his left hind-leg,nothing stays on,but thank's for the suggestion.

Oy, Vinnie! How the heck did he get to his stitches with that collar?

Vinnie, you are giving Bunduk a run for his money.

Chico, when Vlad had his bald patch, the vet told me to use neosporine cream. I figure that's okay to use on cats.
