Ok, so I got the poop on Fromm from my dog food store...

Apparently, they're using the mad cow inspections at the border as an excuse for not shipping the food up here. I don't know why everybody else manages and they can't.

So their solution? They're renting out part of a babyfood plant to make it so their canned products can be available in Canada...

But where will this plant be?

China.

China. CHINA?

EEGADS... ARGH... and pardon me, but screw that. How that can be a good choice for Fromm to make and announce at this time is baffling to me. I'm scratching them off of my list for potential foods.

Prin - as always, thanks the info. I'm assuming then, your retailer does not yet have this shredded food in stock already - ? I know you said he has the mostly-gravy tins but was going to try and order the shredded...

Furryland - are you having any luck yet with that bag of your Dolls wet food? Did you try a Nutro pate for familiar flavor(s)?

Unfortunately, didn't get to far  the youngest liked the shredded tuna from solid gold but can't do lots of tuna and they did at least finish the can of the wysong chicken stew so it i will get another tin of, but their certainly wasn't any love affair lol...

oh well, the search continues..

FINALLY I got a response from Merrick... 12 days later.

I wrote:

Hi there,

First, I know you're not affected by the recall - and thanks for that!

Second, my cat only eats the wet chunks-in-gravy kind of food - can you tell me which of your tinned wet cat food is that consistancy? SHe won't eat pate-type food, and sadly we already tried the Grammy's pot pie - close, but too pate like. I'm looking for something that looks like the (dog?) food on your home page...

Any suggestions? My cat was previously eating Nutro's canned wet food - now recalled...

Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks! ~Scary, Pet-parent to Luna

They Responded:

Hello,

Thanks for inquiring: I’m sorry to say, but all of our cat food will be similar to the Grammy’s Pot Pie you tried.
If I can be of further assistance please let me know.
Best regards,
Lesa

So that's that I guess.... best of luck to all... Scary

yeah, i've tried a whole bunch of them now and their all pretty watery. I did get a little somewhere with the turducken. It's strange because many of the dogs foods are rather chunky?

No, he just has the gravy still... But yeah, not sure I'd buy Fromm canned if it becomes available from China...

NO Fromm for Luna... and no Merrick either as she just doesn't like them. I tried three.

SHe DOES continue to like the pate (for the first time ever) from Nutro in Turkey and Giblet - as she used to get the pouches/tins of that flavor. We are - hesitantly and with constant reading about it - sticking with this direction for now, even though its Nutro...

Best of luck to all of you in this ongoing challenge.... ~Scary
