Cryptorchidism in Dogs - article
The article on www.pets.ca this time around was quite interesting. I didn't know this condition had a real name. Our Simon, then is Cryptorchidistic.
He found us when he was set out near our house back in 2005, and of course we noticed this right away. Fortunately for us (at least we think), he has a tatoo - so we are guessing they had surgery done on him. Should we mention it to our vet next visit - or is there anything else we could do to be sure? Great article again, thanks marko and the others on pets.ca. Diane

I've never heard it said "Cryptorchidism" before and I work in a spay/neuter clinic. I know what a cryptorchid is of course.. but I've never heard the 'ism' phrase before... how weird!

While I have been aware of the terminology for some years I do wish I knew how to say it. Is it crip torch id (istic/ism)? Or what? Where does the emphasis go? |

Longblades, neither of Simon's testicles descended. The tatoo led us to believe the former owner's had surgery on him.
We mentioned this to the vet on his first appt. After reading the articles, I was just wondering if "assuming" that all was done correctly was smart, or if there was anything else we should do or perhaps just watch for. Diane

I'd bring it up with the vet, don't assume anything was done to him simply because he was tattooed.
