Bump?

Hey everyone -

So, we noticed about a week ago that Connor has a weird little bump near his armpit. It looks almost like a pimple or a colourless mole.

At first we thought it was a nipple, honestly, but then I realized he doesn't have a matching one on the other side! He doesn't really have any nipples actually. Just black dots where they ought to be. Hahah.

I'm going to post a pic - do you guys have any idea what it is? We can easily bring him to the vet, but I'm prone to overreaction... so I thought I would run it by all you knowledgeable folks first. It's not bothering him, he doesn't mind me touching it, and it's very small.

Thanks (in advance) for your input!

It looks like it could be a nipple to me, too--and they aren't always perfectly symmetrical, especially in the boys. I think if it were me, I'd just keep an eye on it for a while and see if it changes at all. If it does change, then make an appt. If it doesn't, we'd likely just mention it next time he went in for something else and have them look at it then.

Don't forget to measure it--sometimes tissue is so slow-growing that unless you've gotten a baseline measurement on it, you can't tell if it's actually changing or not...

Some nipple facts.....

1) they typically have a small hairless area around them.
2) they may not always be symmetric - so may not have one across from them (its weird)
3) they will be somewhere along the mammary chain - ie, not on the leg.

It is hard to say from the picture. It could be a nipple however, from the photo it looks like it may be more on the leg than on the abdomen. Furthermore there may be some hair on it (doesn't mean it can't be a nipple but it does raise the question). Finally it almost looks like there may be a small ring of redness around the bump. Pimples can be small yellow bumps with redness around them. Just a thought...

Thanks for your response, Dr. Lee! I would say it could be a pimple, but it doesn't really look exactly like a human pimple. I'm going to keep a eye on it and I might bring him in next Friday for a quick check if it doesn't seem to be going away. I really don't think he's always had it... I would have noticed it before!
