My cat got put down while I was patting her. Thoughts on the entire ordeal.

I posted a huge essay only to realize I'm not ready to talk about this yet. Will post in the future.

I go with my animals, I hold them, stroke them, try to make them feel it's just like any other Vet visit. I usually keep myself together to drive home but then I fall apart. I have sometimes wakened in the middle of the night crying for them for weeks after.

My OH falls apart before we get to the Vet. He can't drive there, let alone home. I've told him if he can't control himself I don't want him to come because I don't want him upsetting the critter. He cries after too but then he usually becomes the strong one. We bury all our pets at home and we did this twice in 2013. It never gets easier.

My condolences on your loss. You can talk here, if you feel able. We here all understand how hard it is to lose a pet, to help a pet on it's way, to put the pet before ourselves knowing we will left with a broken heart. It's hard, I'm sorry.

My condolences as well - it's the most difficult part about being a pet owner.

My wife and I also petted our last cat as he went to the bridge - crazy sad.

I can tell you this, writing about it and getting support can be very cathartic, and when you are ready we'll be here to support you.

When you feel able, we'll still be here. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
