Dog has cut on anus

Hello,

I am hoping if someone here can help me. My dog was attacked by a neighbor's cat The cat managed to cut my dog right on his anus. It doesn't seem to bother him, but every time he poops his anus starts bleeding. Ever since the attack, I notice there is a bubble like thing on his bum as well. What should I do? Could this become a serious problem?

Thanks in advance!

To be on the safe side, I'd have a vet look at it. The cut is in an area that makes it prone to infection. Also, the bubble could be a rupture of the muscles there--and that might be a serious problem.

Hi,

Probably not the issue, but seeing as how we have gone through it with our dog I thought it might be worth bringing up. If the bump is right next to the anus (either side), it could be an anal gland that is plugged up. These can usually be drained as long as it hasn't gotten too bad.

We have a.... dingo/wolf??.... we really don't know entirely what she is but she has thick fur on her rear end and doesn't really seem to respond to or acknowledge pain. One of her glands filled up and actually ruptured one evening. We would have gladly taken her in to get the issue fixed if we had a clue, but there were no signs at all until it burst.

Like I said, probably not it at all but in case it is I would like to help people not go through the process like we did, not fun at all.

*EDIT* I just realised you posted this a while ago. Hopefully the issue has been resolved and it wasn't the gland issue.

The bump and the "cut" may be an anal fistula, which can be difficult to treat. That's assuming that this wasn't caused by the altercation.
