Hi all I live in Timmins,On.and am looking to buy a cocker spaniel puppy will make the drive to pick the puppy up if anyone knows a breeder they can put me in touch with that would be great.TY

There are so many shelter dogs on death row waiting for someone to be their hero, it would be great if you were on of those hero .

I agree with you. Adopt instead of buying, but if really want to buy from breeders, make sure that the breeder is qualified and tested.

We meet a little Cocker Spaniel on walks sometimes, she's a pretty little thing. She is an American Cocker Spaniel. My Vet had an English Cocker Spaniel. Those are the breed names and they look quite different. Which one are you thinking of? The American are much more popular here.

If you don't go the rescue route (and you certainly CAN teach an old dog new tricks) then please be sure to use a reputable breeder, one who does all the health tests for that breed, competing somehow would be nice, a health guarantee for you, support for the dog's life. Cockers are not my breed so I suggest you might start here:

Remember, just because a dog is CKC registered does not mean the breeder is reputable, it's a start but there is much more to it. Do you know what health concerns plague Cockers? Not to scare you, every breed is prone to something.
